K2 and The Angelus Peak, taken just after dawn from Concordia the meeting point of Baltoro and Godwin-Austen glaciers during a brief spell of stable weather. This was taken whilst trekking in the Karakoram in September 2006. I was very fortunate with the weather, the week before I arrived at Concordia the weather had been bad. Snow and low cloud with now views of the mountains, on the morning I left the cloud came down and it started to snow again. Around Concordia are clustered some of the highest peaks in the world. Four of the world’s fourteen “eight-thousanders”, are in this region. K2, second highest in the world at 8,611m, Gasherbrum I, 11th highest in the world at 8,080m, Broad Peak, 12th highest in the world at 8,047m and Gasherbrum II, 13th highest in the world at 8,035m. Standing at Concordia with all these huge mountains around, its easy to see why Galen Rowell called his book about the 1975 American K2 expedition ‘In the Throne Room of the Mountain Gods’ Please visit my site to see more of my work.
I was out of the tent a bit late the morning this shot was taken, so there was no time to use ND grad filters to balance the bright sky and dark foreground. So I took three shots at different exposures and blended them together to bring out some detail in Grasherbrum IV, without blowing out the rays of the rising sun. Please visit my site to see more of my work.

One of the best preserved greek temples situated in Sicily Valley of the temples in Agrigento is the Temple of Concordia (though archaeologists believe this attribution to be incorrect). The temple is remarkably intact, due to its having been converted into a Christian church in 597 CE. Both were constructed to a peripteral hexastyle design.

This is the bell tower at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. I grew up walking around this campus, as my Dad is the chair of the Math Department here. I never thought I would, but I belonged to Concordia, it was my Cobber Family. this is where I spent a lot of my time, walking around this bell tower, listening to the chime every 15 minutes. I was even there the day it rang for the very first time. I met my wife on these grounds, and walked with her under the tower “for luck” in our marriage. Concordia, Thanks for the memories!
Another fixture on the Concordia College campus is this modern bronze sculpture. It was created by a Concordia Alum and given to the school (if I remember right) and has been there for many years. It’s name eludes me, but has commonly been known as Ole and Lena.
Concordia College, Morhead, MN was dedicated Oct. 31, 1891. This building, Old Main, housed all the classes from its completion in 1906 until 1939. My wife and I spent a lot of time here as it now hosts the Education and Business departments. It is the oldest and most stately building on the Concordia Campus
As a student at Concordia this sidewalk was a point of many choices for me. To the left was my dorm. Straight ahead was my wifes dorm, to the right were my friends. It’s inteteresting to think how different life would be if different choices were made

This is about Sailing Ships. Some old, some new,but all of them showing the beauty of sail and the ships that ride the winds of the world to far-off places..or even stay close to home. For young folks who romanticize about sailing away to see the world, to older folks who may have already done it, or just landlubbers who love the beauty of the ships and the oceans, this is for you. I hope you enjoy! / Each image is also available as a stand-alone print on my gallery.
The Rothschild coat of arms contains a clenched fist with five arrows symbolizing the five sons of Mayer Rothschild, a reference to Psalm 127. The family motto appears below the shield, in Latin, Concordia, Integritas, Industria, (Harmony, Integrity, Industry) The Rothschilds were supporters of the foundation of the State of Israel, and Baron Edmond James de Rothschild was a patron of the first settlement in Palestine at Rishon-LeZion. In 1917 Walter Rothschild, 2nd Baron Rothschild was the addressee of the Balfour Declaration, which committed the British government to the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people. James A. de Rothschild financed the Knesset building as a gift to the State of Israel.
