  • Bill Johnson. Dreaming with God. Creativity – a) The state or quality of being creative. b) The ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc.; originality, progressiveness, or imagination. c) The process by which one utilizes creative ability. Synonyms – originality, imagination, inspiration, ingenuity, inventiveness, resourcefulness, creativeness, and vision. Creativity will not only be seen in a full restoration of the arts; it is the nature of His people, expressed in finding new and better ways to do things in any area of influence. It is a shame for the Church to fall into the rut of predictability and call it “tradition.” We must reveal who our Father is through creative expression. We do not become culturally relevant when we become like the culture, but rather when we model what the culture hungers to become. The Church is often guilty of avoiding creativity because it requires change. Resistance to change in reality is a resistance to the nature of God. The statement, “For I the Lord do not change” (Mal. 3:6 NASB) refers to His nature, which is perfect and unchanging. Yet He is always doing a new thing. As the winds of change blow, it will be easy to distinguish between those who are satisfied and those who are hungry. Change brings the secrets of the heart to light.

  • This image reminds me of old still life paintings by Rembrandt or the Caravaggio. To me, the light and colours seem reminiscent of the Renaissance period. This composite is made of three images:   This is my starting image. I placed a fruit bowl on the floor, and draped a large piece of dark fabric over it, then I filled it with fruit. The shot was made from above, with the camera on a tripod in a completely dark room. I used a five-second exposure at F/20 and ISO 100, while I painted over the fruit with a regular flashlight to get warm tones. A LED light would have been colder.         Last summer, I made this not-so-good photo of my rosebush after the rain. I used it to create a Ton sur Ton effect (matching tones). This layer is very subtle, and can be seen only in the larger versions, so you will need to click on the image to enlarge it. I desaturated, removed the white background, and applied parts of the image in the corners at 8% to 11% opacities.         Finally, when I went walking in Montreal last Sunday, shooting graffiti and old gritty corners, I also made a few shots of surfaces I could use as textures for my composites. This is one of them, which gives the appearance of an old painting to the image.

  • A railroad crossing in a rural setting. / /

  • Just another snap shot of a person. I was trying to show the intimacy between this girl and the wind and sky.

  • Sort of a composition piece. The expression makes it.

  • This is my first major work in digital, took me a long while to get it to a point where I liked it. It’s one of my best friends and the colors came out great.

  • The other half of day, I tired hard to create that depth and hope it came across well. The colors for this piece changed several times and these were the final results. It was a first attempt at those impressionistic leaves and forest.

  • This was an attempt to do a portrait that turned into something else completely. I really like the shadow space and worked to get it to where it is. The pose was taken from something I remembered from a magazine, but the add had a lot more bright colors and words.

  • Digital blue artwork.

  • Pedestrian crossing in the city center.
