P/S Retouched by Ange in collaboration with Ingrid Sjodahl. Digital photograph shot by Greg Parsons in collaboration with Ingrid Sjodahl (2007). KvB ex-student of mine Ingrid graduated last year winning the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers, NSW Portfolio of the Year Award 2007…needless to say damn proud of her. Model: Liz. I retouched face, hair & recreated arched eyebrows for further definition; left eye was ‘opened’ up to match right eye. Ingrid added b/w desaturated tone, painted lips, bodice lace & sheet in red tone. Original before shot image below.

Photographic based digital montage 2007 (1 from series of 6 – redesigned from 2004/5 Japanese Series). Re-worked combining two from the series. I shot the tree, flowers & combined them in P/S with drawn elements & filtered the lot. Approximately 50 Photoshop layers. Generally I tire of my artwork yet still love this series to this day.

I’ve bought six new IKEA glasses but one of them got broken when I washed it for the first time. Of course, I wouldn’t just throw it away, as well as my daughter couldn’t throw away a Camellia blossom she has found fallen at the ground two days later… / I believe these two imperfect subjects made a perfect combination. What do you think?

“The bird has an honor that man does not have. Man lives in the traps of his abdicated laws and traditions; but the birds live according to the natural law of God who causes the earth to turn around the sun.” – Kahlil Gibran. / . / Composite. / © 2007.

I think deep down I have a bit of a thing for pirates. When it came time to do this shoot I seemed to have an awful lot of pirate accessories just lying around waiting to be used. It was good to get it out of my system. Only problem is now I can’t stop thinking of excuses to take more pirate photos. So if anyone in Melbourne feels like playing dress ups with me, drop me a line Art Direction & Photography: Jo O’Brien / Styling: Jo O’Brien and Helen McLean / Model: Helen Mclean / Lighting: James Price / Post Production: Jo O’Brien
