A compilation of three images previously uploaded individually. This trio of images really captures the cat beautifully. As my wife and I left a hotel in The Rocks in Sydney over 10 years ago, we spotted this cat sitting in the window in the back lane. Fortunately, I had my trusty old Ricoh XR2 35 mm film camera and took these three shots in the early morning. The narrow lane was in the shadow of the sunrise behind a three storey building, so light was very dull. I managed to get only three shots before the cat went down behind the fence. All in all, very fortunate to have the opportunity to photograph the little feline in low light an still capture the three so well. I have always been proud of this trio… It hung on the wall in my office in Magill, Sth Aust for many years. We have moved to the Yorke Peninsula, and it now is on the wall in our entrance area in our new (very old) home. Hope you all like the compilation. Regards, Craig Watson PS… This sold in October 2007 as a framed image and was my first sale! Yippeeee! The three images are also available individually…

A montage: two portraits, an image of a headstone and textured image. Created by using layers and layer masks of differing opacity and playing with the blending mode of each layer as I go. Trying to get the relationship of the young lady to the older man to the gravestone in context seemed the hardest for me.

I applied a slight Orton image effect, did some dodging and burning and added some scatter brush strokes in Photoshop. The original barn image was uploaded in August.
The Custom House Tower is a skyscraper in McKinley Square, in the Financial District neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts I been asked, how this was done. Digital Art Compilations of 2 shots: / Sky taken by my Nikon D60 and tower which was taken with Canon Powershot S3 IS in AB mode and processed first as HDR, then 2 images was blended in PS Elements 6.0 , I used multiple layers to blend the colors, until they looked right to me. “Customs House Clock Tower” featured in That’s Entertainment on July 27, 2009 Challenge Win in Any Type of Timepiece – All Artwork Allowed on July 26, 2009 “Customs House Clock Tower” was featured in Majestic Massachusetts on May 31, 2009 May 18 , 2009 – Second place with 5 votes( same as winner) / in Clocks!!! A misty morning blended with an image by Marcus Ranum in CS3. The lady’s forlorn demeanor and “all dressed up with nowhere to go” image made me think of Karen Carpenter’s song “Looking for Love…” / Though people say love is everywhere, / I’m looking for love, but it’s just not there For those interested, the background image was processed, the figure placed (which automatically gives a second layer) and blended using the opacity slider, “blend if” options in the blending mode, and erase tool. A shadow was produced with the burn tool, and light controlled on the figure with dodge, burn, and a white brush at about 5%. The blur tool was also used around any hard edges to help the figure blend into the b/g and not appear sharp and ‘dropped in’. Most of these actions were done on separate layers in order to be able to switch them on and off individually and ensure the correct effect was achieved. It also prevents ruining the whole image – if something doesn’t work, just delete that particular layer! The birds on the light pole were taken in Pennsylvania on January 12, 2009. I don’t know what it is about this particular light pole, but large numbers of pigeons can usually be found grouped together here. The two images were combined in Photoshop.

This suits my mood right now! A tad deflated after some recent events so I’ve shied away from local photography and used some of my favourite stock-artists’ work. This is a compilation of two photographs plus a couple of texture layers. The figure is a life-size sculpture from the National Gallery of Victoria titled “The Connoisseur II” by Peter Corlett. The bathroom is mine. I have used the photo of the sculpture with the permission of the artist Peter Corlett. I have always liked this art work and often wondered about the title – what was he evaluating as a ‘connoisseur’? I have no idea what the artist Peter Corlett intended when he conceived of this work but here’s my interpretation….. A connoisseur is an ‘expert judge in matters of taste’ and I think that this ‘connoisseur’ is viewing his image, as it progresses towards middle-age, with wistful contemplation, some puzzlement but with acceptance and without judgement.

Best On Full Size I spied this beautiful carousel horse at Ann Rodriguez’s farm near Manheim PA when we visited on Saturday, August 8, 2009 with the The Keystone State – Pennsylvania group. I’ve always loved carousel horses and felt so bad that they could never jump off their track and just frolic in a beautiful field somewhere like their living counterparts. When I saw this guy, I fell completely in love and couldn’t stop playing with him with my camera and then in Photoshop!! The horse’s image was taken near Manheim, PA with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr lens on August 8, 2009, shutter speed was 1/250, aperture was f/8. The image of the flowers was taken on April 18, 2009 with the Nikon D40x and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens, shutter 500, aperture f/5.6. I’ve added a texture layer from CGTextures (thanks to RavenSoul ) and did a bit of erasing of the original background, then layered it all with the floral image I took when I was in Arizona from the gardens of San Jose de Tumacacori, near Tucson in April of this year. I like to think that any any minute the poles will fall away and our little friend’s dreams of racing through the buttercups will come true!! Sorry Annie!! Texture courtesy of CGTextures
