  • Mother and Child
    by Vincent Teh

    US$5.65–US$129.20

A stray cat wandered into my house and gave birth in a flower pot (not very smart). I then moved the kitten into a shoe-box and padded it with clothes to make a nice soft bed! This was taken when it was still in the pot.

  • Kuan Yin
    by Helena Nelson-Reed

    US$4.16–US$17.81

It took me awhile to find this, I’d handwritten it in a journal. The name Kuan Yin is spelled in different ways, but when spoken sounds similar in all of them. In Japan she is known as Kannon. In the ancient Sanskrit manifestation she started as a male, and transformed herself into a female. I like the concept that she manifests as both because it reminds me of the yin and yang. Kuan Yin is known for shape shifting abilities, recreating herself in forms that resonate with those who meant to encounter her. As with all bodhisattvas she may also wear the form of an animal. Look into their eyes and you’ll know. Kannon listens to and heeds the cries of the world, she is compassion and love. Here is what I wrote about her after finishing this painting: “Through mists of time and space, manifesting form to form, life after life, Kuan Yin shifts and alters herself. Fractionalizing, she appears simultaneously in far flung places, a magician slipping through disguises. Always present but not so easily recognized. Know her by her compassion. Beneath the human or animal mask is a face without flaw, smooth and unwrinkled as ivory. It is young, yet ancient. Her eyes are reminiscent of the oryx and gazelle’s soft liquid gaze, for she is luminous with trust and mercy. Kuan Yin is the cool, moist zephyr caressing scorched hearts and dehydrated lives, the shade of willow’s soft green leaves. Her love is an oasis for the bewildered and abandoned a wayside rest for weary travelers. She has many names, many faces depending upon time and place. Pause and partake of her mercy and affection. Sip slowly, deliberately. Watch for stray willow leaves adrift in the cup.” Text and image copyright Helena Nelson – Reed. Please don’t use without written permission.

  • Bermuda and The Sea Venture
    by SBCStudio

    US$5.32–US$121.60

The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by SBC, painting, and drawing. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda. It won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007.

  • Going away...
    by micmac

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Mr.Roland died two days after I took that picture,he was a realy good friend and I use to tease him a lot.He was blind but always recognised me because he knew my voice«Ah!....« Gigi de St-Hippolyte»he used to say , holding my hand.He never asked for much only to organised his meal in a way he could easily eat by himself and to give him his chaplet for the ceremony on sundays.A great person , very generous and smiling all the time. The worst part for him was not being able to go to the bathroom ,I think that idea killed him ,he was so proud. He died very peacefully with her daughter and son ,hand in hand .The hand you see in the picture is his son’s .Let’s say that if I wasn’t passionnate about my job I couldn’t do it . / /

  • Courage
    by Joanne Bradley

    US$4.32–US$98.80

This elderly woman sits at the window and contemplates the world outside. She does not see far beyond the window frame because her world has diminished considerably. Two years ago she was officially diagnosed with dementia after a life threatening surgery and long hospital stay. However, her family and friends noticed a difference in her personality over the last several years. Once a proud and hard working single mom, she raised two children during the 60’s and 70’s at a time when single parenthood was not as widely accepted as it is today. At present, she is reduced to little more than the passive demeanor of a quiet child. She is aware of the reduction in both her mental and physical abilities. She also understands that she is helpless to change anything. / It takes great courage to face the inevitable. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia; it accounts for 64 per cent of all dementias. For example right now in the US, Alzeihmer’s has surpassed diabetes and is the sixth leading cause of death. As baby boomers are rapidly approaching the age of retirement it is believed that 10 million baby boomers will develop Alzheimer’s in their lifetime. Currently, there are more than 24 million people in the world with dementia—this is estimated to rise to 81 million by the year 2040.6 / Statistics taken from both the Canadian and American Alzeihmer’s Society. / Published by Redbubble in Compassion, Courage and Friendship book October 2008 / Compassion, Courage & Friendship Featured in the Nirvana group October 2008 / Featured in the ImageWriting group November 2008 / Featured in the RB Buyer’s Booth November 2008 / Featured in the Stillness Speaks group November 2008 / Featured on RB homepage on November 25/08 / The Fine Art of Photography

  • Every Little Peace
    by Mui-Ling Teh

    US$4.66–US$106.40

Just one sheet makes a big difference; / One sheet that can make over 2000 cranes. / Each crane a step closer to a better world; / Each piece a step closer to peace. Each square in the grid paper is 5×5mm; and to be exact, there were 2028 full squares in the paper When I was in grade 5 our teacher read “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes” to our class. Sadako Sasaki was infected with leukemia. She spent her days folding cranes and making wishes upon them; wishing for her health and for a more peaceful world (the quote above is my writing inspired by the story of the thousand paper cranes). I had difficulty photographing this; and am not fully satisfied with the end result, but I suppose this is the best I can do with my camera (I’m satisfied with the origami though!) I hope everyone likes the idea anyhow. For me it’s always more about the origami than the photography skills. This piece has been included among RB’s featured pages, and in the following groups: / Inspired Art / _Winner of The Challenge For a better idea of scale: / / More Sample Origami:

  • When the Bough Breaks
    by Jan Piller

    US$4.83–US$110.20

  • This concept has been used before, but this design is an original. This design is printed on American Apparel, sweat shop free verified, shirts in a variety of colors and styles for both men and women.

  • Colored Pencil, original available / GODDESS OF SMALL THINGS Who cares for all beings, including the plain, non – descript, or annoying creatures everyone else ignores, drives away, or attempts to destroy? I think there needs to be a special goddess dedicated to this purpose alone. She will be the goddess who inspires us to notice the quiet child in a classroom, to acknowledge and respect the shy or awkward person nobody else bothers with. Those who honor this goddess will be recognized by random acts of kindness and senseless gestures of mercy. Devotees will capture and release the ladybugs that accidentally fly indoors during late autumn – or let them sleep in peace right through ‘till spring, snuggled in a corner of the window sill. They’ll be the persons who don’t recoil, but instead admire the plain brown snakes undulating gracefully across trails on warm spring and autumn days. A universal, daily prayer of this Goddess cult will be the ritual of feeding the nameless, drab birds as well as their more glamourous cousins. This Goddess of Small Things will be a guardian of all life, not just the colorful, dramatic forms.; she won’t pick and choose. We are surrounded by creatures deserving our tolerance, if not protection. The field mice and voles falling into basement window wells, nameless brown birds pecking for seed in the ice, non- descript beetles, mangy stray dogs and flea bitten feral cats. Who watches over the almost invisible little creatures sharing our world as they go about the daily business of crossing busy streets, avoiding predators, traps, and poison? The Goddess of Small Things is another name for the gentle heart that respects and protects all the little creatures deemed commonplace, disposable, or undesirable. The smallest face and tiniest beating heart holds a sacred place in the hoop of life, and is entitled to compassion and respect. Text copyright Helena Nelson – Reed. • Desire
    by Karri Klawiter

    US$4.99–US$114.00

Created in Apophysis 3D hack. This is one of my favorite fractals. I think the title is very fitting for this image, the curves, the colors, an abstract view of desire, love, compassion and lust. I love how smooth and curvacious it turned out. Can you tell that this actually came from the parameters of A Pinch of Blue ? This piece was featured in the Live, Love, Dream group and A Fractal Energy Passion group. • Vegan/Vegetarian t-shirt. Such a simple thing. Beans, not beings. I became a vegetarian after reading how a particular ethnic group eats cats here in Florida (and elsewhere). Then I became a vegan after seeing what happens to calves. Yikes. Cows act like dogs and chickens play with toys. Cows, kitties, chickens, turkeys, lamb, fishies, piggies, horses, dogs, pigs, kangaroos, ostriches and on and on. All are beings and tasty to some, but listen to your heart before it goes numb.

  • I was in northern Rwanda in April 2007 as a volunteer with an aid group and we had stopped to talk with people at a local church. The town was Rhuengeri, it sits close to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo and has the unfortunate reputation as having been home to a number of those who perpetrated the horrific genocide of 1994. / The atmosphere in Rwanda is one of pervading ‘brokeness.’ Millions of orphans live side by side with those who tortured and massacred their families 14 few, short years ago. Millions more suffer the newer enemy – HIV Aids and countless others wander ghost like in a state it seems of perpetual shock, haunted by the past and overwhelmed by the concept of a future. / This was April. The official month of mourning. When people publicly face what privately never leaves them. / I was sitting on a step tired and desperate for fresh air when I looked into the crowd that inevitably gathered wherever we were. / This woman, is by my guess perhaps 30 and she is as are most, dirt poor. / I was absolutely transfixed by her and her child. / She seemed to me to sum up so much of what I saw. / Love and desperation and yes, compassion. / Her breast is bone dry and cracked and yet she tries to feed her baby. Perhaps it is the hope inherent in the action which feeds her. / At the same time, she looks totally preoccupied by her struggle for survival. / What is she thinking as she gazes into the middle ground? / My thought is, ‘where is the next meal.’ Where will she get it from? How will she share it? And upon finishing it, where will she find the next one? / I was overwhelmed by seeing the reality of those who live literally from hour to hour, day after exhausting day. / It confronted me then. / It continues to confront me now. / – Dog photography – Africa photography / - Beach photography - Black & white photography – Dog photography – Africa photography / - Beach photography - Monotone photography
