They say I should take her to the vet. That she’s most likely in pain. That I’d be doing her a favour.
She’s been with me for 13 years (except for a short break, when I wasn’t here). / There’s just the two of us now. A year or so (Was it more?) ago, I took her back to the RSPCA, to the vet there.

Needing, requiring like breath, like shelter, like life itself to be drawn across a world of acrylics once more, just once more.
This is a poem about tools used in art that we discard or neglect on a daily basis. / The poem just sort of popped up when I tried to revive a few old gel pens.

One way to be with others as a companion on their healing journey…
I wrote this poem while doing a counselling course, and I hope this poem captures the spirit of their teaching even a little. The course was taught largely along the lines of an approach by Carl Rogers, ‘person-centred’ counselling, which proposes that everyone has their own answers and wisdom inside them. It’s certainly an approach I’ve found incredibly supportive when offered by companions on my own healing journey.
So as I venture down this path in my life once again,
My life’s new season
A Comforting sigh / Reaches across the table / I look away

i lost a loved one on Thursday… my little kitty “Tigger”... a rescue that survived the needle of an animal shelter… yet didn’t escape death’s calling card… and i question the fairness of it all… why sweet companions are snuffed in an instant… a stroke… or aneurysm… while those humans that destroy one another… and destroy our earth… continue to walk among us. i don’t handle death well… never have… probably never will… especially that of a special furry friend… they rarely disappoint us… Tigger was a joy and a blessing… each day he spread his tiny angel wings to sprinkle love on my life. RIP, Sweet Tigger.
