this gang of Adelie penguins gave me a great opportunity for quite a series of entertaining photographs as they zoomed busily about their icy playground. This photo has become a symbol of connection and friendship among my own personal group of nearest and dearest friends.
My Friend and my dog are doing well together
everyday we make promises to ourselves / everyday we flout them / everyday we try and keep the word / everyday we break it… / atleast someone is trying Credits: Photography of the beautiful child exclusively done for this artwork by my dear friend `tracie76 . She is amazing!
The painting is based on a photo I took on Dartmoor a few years ago. The light was fantastic and I’ve expanded on that to create this vibrant landscape.
Watercolour on Bockingford watercolour paper As we are stuck in the depths of winter down here in New Zealand, I thought it might be good to choose something to paint that’s funny, to lift the spirit. So I have come up with a painting called ‘Playing Footsie’. Have you ever played it? It is an intimate game, basically a way of flirting silently without other people noticing (like an inside joke, but better). Be warned, it is best played with someone you really like and likes you back. Be gentle and don’t kick the other person by accident or it could have the reverse effect I thought it was time to try out some watercolour pencils I had bought last month. They were secondhand (unused) bought from a auction site. They are Faber Castell Albrecht Durer, a tin of 12. I used Bockingford watercolour paper for this painting.
here in townsend like any other place in the US of A, we celebrated the fourth of july with fireworks. / This fireworks show was actually done in a small community that is within the town, area called Big Valley. / Our town fireworks were done on friday night on the fourth, and they had their’s the next night. / I shot this using the “bulb” setting, which i have realized it’s something I need to practice on. It takes just the right timing to get all the light you can and then release the button just as the fireworks explode. there is alittle trial and error for using this method of shooting, especially when what you’re shooting is constantly changing / best if viewed larger :) Shot this in Manual Mode / using bulb setting / Focal length at 17mm / ISO of 1600 / Exposure time at 7 sec / Ev at 0 / F-stop at F11
Paint your palette blue and grey / Look out on a summer’s day / With eyes that know the darkness in my soul Shadows on the hills Sketch the trees and the daffodils / Catch the breeze and the winter chills / In colours on the snowy linen land Now I understand / What you tried to say to me / And how you suffered for your sanity / And how you tried to set them free / They would not listen they did not know how / Perhaps they’ll listen now. Starry starry night Flaming flowers that brightly blaze / Swirling clouds in violet haze / Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue / Colours changing hue / Morning fields of amber grain / Weathered faces lined in pain / Are soothed beneath the artist’s LOVING hand Now I understand / What you tried to say to me / And how you suffered for your sanity / And how you tried to set them free / They would not listen they did not know how / Perhaps they’ll listen now For they could not love you / But still your love was true / And when no hope was left inside / On that starry starry night You took your life as lover’s often do But I could have told you, / Vincent, / This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you Starry starry night Portraits hung in empty halls / Frameless heads on nameless walls / With eyes that watch the world and can’t forget / Like the strangers that you’ve met The ragged men in ragged clothes / A silver thorn / A bloody rose / Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow / Now I think I know / What you tried to say to me / And how you suffered for your sanity / And how you tried to set them free / They would not listen / They’re not listening still Perhaps they never will – Words by Don McLean Music – Art of Noise – On Being Blue / For Vincent Painting in acrylics, inks, pigment, chalk and graphite / 100×42 cm on paper
Kingston upon Thames – Surrey / / One of the more unusual sights in Kingston is several disused red telephone boxes that have been tipped up to lean against one another in an arrangement resembling dominoes. This sculpture by David Mach was commissioned in 1988 as part of the landscaping for the new Relief Road, and is called Out of Order. 3707 Views so far !! (Nov 09) / 53 Favs
This (far left) cup has been travelling around the world – who knows where it is now. Here (an old rectory in Glebe, Sydney). I’ve tried to create a disparate collection of cups (different backgrounds, histories, journeys or purposes) while they have a core similarity, connection or raison d’etre.

PLEASE VIEW LARGE.. !! This was taken early in the morning as we arrived for our journey to the Elephant Seal area. Mists and light and Peace. Taken in the Año Nuevo SNR State Natural Reserve Northern California / ELEPHANT SEAL AFTERNOON I have used this form of morning meditation for quite some time and feel the ease of this practice and results in a more generous day with better focus. This is a meditation to begin the day. In a seated pose, focus on your breath. Cultivate a steady, relaxed breath. Then ask yourself: What is my intention today? After posing the question, rest your attention on the out-breath. This creates a spaciousness of attention on the in-breath. There is no direction for the in-breath. Do not get carried away by thinking, but also do no tightly control the attention. Continue to notice each out breath. Sit until you are struck by a clarity of intention. It comes not by chasing it down with thinking, but by stilling the mind and creating space. It may take a few minutes, or much longer. If no specific intention announces itself to you, simply commit to acting ethically and with mindfulness. That is certainly an intention that we can all practice each day. This meditation seems simple, and it is simple. It’s power lies in its ability to help us act intentionally throughout the day. If you practice this meditation each morning, you will find yourself more ‘awake’ behind the wheel of your life*.
This was shot during a community assembly in a countryside village in Yemen. All the women were gathered (as were all the men in another part of the place) and discussing the problems of the community (water, school, hospital, road works, etc.), and a few little kids (pride of their mothers) were staying with the women, intimidated by the unusual crowd that day… Featured in Odd One Out / Featured in First Thing / Featured in The Human Condition Wins challenge Odd Person Out for group Odd One Out / Top 10 in challenge Odd One Out for group Odd One Out

My Website It’s been a very long time since I received a real postcard and last night when I checked my mail at my PO Box, it was a total ‘wish I was there’ moment. As I stood under the street lamp reading real words from someone in RB who I hold very close to my heart, I felt so deliciously warm and happy inside. We live in such a cyber world and sometimes it’s just pure bliss to get back to reality with good old fashioned communication. On the other hand, if it wasn’t for RB I would never have met this gorgeous friend. / Thank you Billy straight from my heart / XOXOX / This is just my take on the whole thing, part postcard, part me :)
He left her laying on the floor on a dirty mattress, the place he left her every night, the place he told her to / now call “Home” as he walked away from her, the hatred streaming through her veins made her snap, she wouldn’t go down like this, she called out to him, “Don’t Leave”, turning eyeing her suspiciously, he walked back to her, not knowing she had found her weapon earlier that day, a brick in the corner under some cardboard, behind her back she gripped it with one hand, the other hand reaching out to him, as he drew close she brought the brick down hard on the side of his head..down he went….she ran towards the door slamming it shut..,,finally she was free!!! She didn’t know which way to run, she just ran..as she rounded the corner.. to her utter relief parked not 20 ft from her was a police car..screaming..running she now knew she was safe..in no time she would be back home..”Her Home” she drew closer seeing him getting out of his car approaching her, she ran..throwing herself in the safety of his open arms..crying..”there..there now..your safe” he said ..she stiffened..knowing that voice..No it can’t be!!! She looked up right into the eyes of her worst nightmare..Him..he looked down, kissed her forhead “ wrapped his arms tightly around her waist..Now sweetie lets go back HOME.. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR Lens Went on the inner part of the grain elevator today and got this shot (no one around on Sundays)
this is really importan picture, made with the remnants of the berlin wall, at that place, where the first crack was done. I was born in east berlin, my parents were east. The wall fell when I was 3 years old, but my parents were still east. I grew up in east berlin, had eastern teachers and friends. For me, berlin and germany, was always one. but for them, it was always seperated. They tried to teach me that, but I didn’t listen. It was just annoying to me. I try to make all of mine frustration on that topic, and some critism, that this wall still exist in some heads 20 years after it fell, into a picture. during the time I made this picture, I was in love with a girl from westberlin – who rejected me. That’s probably one topic of this picture is love. / Those two people on the picture, my friends, were in love with each other at that time. Allthough they never got together. They never could confess their feelings. It’s just like there’s been this invisible wall beetween them. This was the first time, I could make one of my visions, my frustration, my feelings and other feelings into one picture. After that, I took photography more seriously. But at that shooting, I was just happy. I was finally able to say something, I always wanted to say.
This is the Isle of Skye at it’s best, when there is a lot of colour in the landcsape, with the low sun we get this far North at this time of year, accentuating every detail. / This is the crofting community of Tarskavaig, with the glorious backdrop of the Cuillin Hills. / “Crofting” is small time farming, or “smallholding” where a few crops might be grown, and a small number of cattle or sheep kept.
