  • Castle Combe
    by Linda Syms

    US$4.99–US$114.00

A photographers paradise, this beautiful little village nestled in the Cotswolds Best “Viewed Large”. /

  • This yellow rumped warbler guards the suet log as vigilantly as a combative little hummingbird guards the nectar feeder. He has a distinctive “tsk tsk” call that announces his coming so it’s never a surprise when he shows up. This is the first year I’ve been privileged to see warblers at the feeders. I give John Radosevich credit for that because of his peanut butter suet recipe which is a big hit with the warblers. They can’t get enough of it! In addition to the yellow rumped warblers, I’ve seen pine warblers and yellow warblers, all enjoying the treats. Still no woodpeckers, though. Maybe one day they’ll come closer . . .

  • Packbridge over Bybrook
    by RedHillDigital

    US$4.12–US$94.24

Packbridge over Bybrook Between Christmas and the New Year I had an opportunity to return to Castle Combe in Wiltshire, which justifiably lays claim to being one of England’s prettiest villages. This is a shot of the Packbridge, which carries the main street over the Bybrook stream. The village was fairly quiet on this wintry Sunday morning, but the White Hart and Castle Inn were doing a brisk lunchtime trade! Date: 28th December 2008

  • The Nursery
    by Krys Bailey

    US$5.65–US$129.20

A completely opportunistic shot. My husband Nick and I were picnicking in a beautiful leafy little valley in the Brenta Dolomites of northern Italy, when Nick spotted this. It appears to be a solitary wasp of sorts, sitting on a fist-sized comb and she is feeding and tending to her larvae which you can actually see in the cells. As with many macros, I couldn’t appreciate what was going on until I processed the image. Ain’t nature wonderful?! ;o)

  • Just a trim today thank you Mr Todd.

  • Gus the Rooster
    by Bonnie T. Barry

    US$4.32–US$98.80

After Hurricane Gustav blew through Louisiana, this handsome rooster showed up at the office of an oil service company. He was very friendly and plucky, even climbing the steps to sit on the porch of the office building to chew the fat with the guys working their seven day shift. The men inquired but no one claimed the rooster, so he’s now a regular on the premises. One day, one of the crewman decided to tidy up around the place with a little lawn mowing and weed eating. Gus went berserk when he saw the weed eater and attacked it beak and claw! The blood went flying everywhere before the worker could pull the offensive instrument out of harm’s way. Thankfully, Gus mended just fine, with a few battle scars as souvenirs of his skirmish and newfound pride in that he had taken on the enemy and protected the home turf with grit and gutsiness. Gus, named after a hurricane, sometimes has a stormy temperament but he can mellow down and be good company with folks, too. Gus, you’re the best!

  • Combe Martin, Devon
    by Ian Flindt

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Combe Martin is a location overflowing with geological wonders. Shark fin shaped rocks compete with one another to be the tallest and sharpest, while at high tide great stacks and rock falls collude to make an adventure out of an exploration of the bay. But perhaps Combe Martin’s most striking geological feature are the strata that twist and turn in the cliff faces overlooking the bay. To the geologist’s trained eye these folds, formed of limestone, sandstone and mudstone, recall articulately a chapter in the story of the planet. To the layman it is spectacular evidence of the dramatic and formative forces that have helped to shape our world. Photographically Combe Martin has almost too many rocks! It is a location where the challenge is to assemble the rocks into some form of compositional order. The ND filter, used to balance the exposure between the foreground and sky, has darkened the distant cliff, but this is not an issue as the aim was to capture the interaction between the water movement and the rocks. Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens. Exposure of 2 seconds at f/18.
