This is a beautiful houase that nestles at the foot of the Pentland Hills overlooking Harperrig Loch – it is also our local farm shop. The house is one that I would give my eye-teeth to live in! Incidentally, the expanse of sandy looking soil is the end of the loch which has almost totally dried up at the moment. Harperrig was actually dug out as a back-up to stop the Water of Leith overflowing in the parts of Edinburgh it passes through!
This was taken at the top of the hill above Colzium overlooking the Pentlands. An incredible view when you think it’s only a few miles from our capital city! The wonderful purple flush you can see is Heather.
You follow a path along the wall which takes you right over the hill at the lowest part of the Pentlands near Edinburgh, known as Cauld Stane Slap, to the other side near Carlops … an 8 mile walk which is popular with hikers – only thing, unless you’ve got someone to meet you with a car on the other side … you have to walk all the way back!!
