Elowah falls tumbles some 200+ feet to the floor of the Columbia River Gorge. Taken on a rainy misty day in January. I never seen that much water coming over the falls.
The Province of British Columbia is considered the jewel of Canada, i would have to agree.
This man works infront of the Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia. I bought two prints from him, one based around Mother Earth and the other based around the Tree of Life. He has an interesting look to both himself and his prints. On a sidenote, I went back to Victoria about 8 months after I took this, found him selling his wares at the same place and gave him a copy of this photo. The version here is actually the 3rd reincarnation of this shot as I haven’t been truly happy with the post processing until now.
For those of us tired of Winter and grey foggy days a bit of Spring color to brighten your day. A meadow filled with Lupine and balsamroot glows with color under the setting sun from the Rowena Plateau looking North across the Columbia River to the hills of Washington Off to a Photographers meeting , be back later!
The West Coast first people of British Columbia, Canada, have a name for killer whales or orcas…they call them sea wolves. If you have ever watched killer whales hunt, they do so like wolves.

...And the CP (Canadian Pacific) takes it by a nose with the CN (Canadian National) chugging alongside. FEATURED in the “OUT OF THE BLUE” GROUP / FEATURED in ‘ANIMAL FANTASY COMPOSITES” STELLER’S JAY / Recognition: / One of the most striking features of British Columbia’s official bird, is its crest and vibrant blue and black color. The Steller’s Jay SHAACK! SHAACK! cry is a familiar sound to visitors of British Columbia’s provincial and national parks. / However this great mimic can fool the most avid birder with its mixed bag of voices that includes everything from hawk calls to warblings of other song birds. Haunts: / The Steller’s Jay is found throughout British Columbia’s dense coniferous forests During the summer months it seems especially bold and is often seen around picnic sites and campgrounds. In winter it seeks out more promising food sources in the mixed forests and backyard gardens. Schedule: / A year around resident, however, each fall there is a distinct movement which brings considerable numbers of Steller’s Jays down to valley bottoms. Field Notes: / Steller’s Jay is named after George Wilhelm Steller, a German naturalist who made exploratory voyage in the north Pacific in the early 1700s. However if the Steller’s Jay had been named for its behavior it could have easily been called the “Investment Bird”, because of it habit of taking food and storing it elsewhere for future use. And like any good investor it doesn’t put all its “cash” into one area. These perky jays certainly provide us a great deal of pleasure in observing their antics and listening to their bright chatter. It is located in British Columbia’s side of the border. It is used by the Haines Highway and was the route used by the Dalton Trail during the days of the Klondike Gold Rush. The pass is named for the Chilkat subgroup of the Tlingit people, who reside in the Haines area and until the gold rush controlled use of the route. The water is a mix of salt and fresh water, creating a very interesting environment for Great Blue Herons. I watched this bird for some time, as it fed on very small fish. I loved the bird against the marsh grasses when it decided to move on. The reflection in the tidal pool was definitely a bonus. The image was captured at Campbell River on Vancouver Island, Canada, using a Nikon D700, Nikkor 600 mm lens and 1.4 teleconverter on a Gitzo monopod.
