Sand footsteps on Byron Bay beach, the eternal journey of travellers coming and going in harmony and balance The strangest thing about this image is that is not set up! it was exactly as shot. / 2 runners along the beach going opposite ways. I wonder if they ever met…
My apologies for having no originality in flower choice but as you can see, I love my plain old dandelions! Anyway, in this image there are 3 stages of flower from the same plant, the bud, the flower and the post-flower fairy which to me are like 3 generations. I chose the layers and treatment to reflect all 3 generations by being aged yet still bright and not faded. / Have sold 1 x laminated print.
Took this a couple of weeks ago of my little girl at the beach and realised it’s potential this morning when I started to play with the colour, light and layers so of course I though that I would share!
I have debated for a few months whether or not to put this image up but finally decided to test the waters.. If no bites then I’ll take it down…. This is another image taken during a sunset at the local beach.

Reloaded as it wasn’t showing on activity lists! Having tried to get her to pose for me and failing on the whole, I gave up and she started playing with her NDS… well i grabbed two scarves she has, which were freebies from the local Wok Buffet Restaurant and managed to get them to stay on her head and snapped about 10 shots whilst she was playing, every odd shot I had to say DS down as it was getting higher and higher and was in the picture! Well this is the result and I actually quite like it! Natural light through the window. Aged 8 years. Nikon D40 18-55mm

Colour pencil, graphite and pastel on paper. 19×25 cm. It’s been hard finding personal drawing time of late. She has been ‘in the making’ for about 5 weeks. It feels nice to have a piece finished. Hope to start a new one today.

/ Get the TShirt Tears from Heaven / / The Peacock Empress is a drawing created a couple of days ago, while at the surgery with my daughter, i had a vision of it which impressed strongly in my mind, and i was able to draw it once I got home. The idea was the Empress was rising up over the waters. There’s lots of symbolism in this, but it’s purely for my own benefit and the viewer may decide how the symbolism relates to them…the colour has been done in Photoshop. She has almost taken on the look of an oriental style “Luna Park” entrance at twilight, might be a nice design for those who celebrate “Chinese New Year” and/or collectors of asian inspired/related art

Steer II (Missy Higgins) / / Pencil drawing, digital colouring The Golden Elephant – story and art by Karin Taylor / A long long time ago in a tropical land where the papaya grow wild and free, there lived a golden elephant who’s beauty was unsurpassed. All the creatures were mesmerised by what appeared to be the sun entering the water when she swam and when she walked on the land everyone stepped aside, as elephants were revered. Legend has it, the golden elephant was once a beautiful warrior princess. Once, in midst of of a terrible battle with her enemy about to take her life, she made a wish that she could become an elephant, for then no harm would come to her. The beautiful warrior princess was granted her wish, tho could sadly not return to her human form, and so it was that the golden elephant lived forever, bringing warmth and light wherever she went. During the darkest nights when the stars hid and the moon disappeared, the beautiful golden elephant shone like the sun, lighting the way for pilgrims on their journey. Although very happy she got what she wished for, the golden elephant found herself still thinking the grass was sometimes greener on the other side. Indeed she would have liked to be human again. But she accepted her new role and did the best she could with her gift of light. / A few years ago when my daughter Sarah was very young, she had a little dolly called Hamble whom she treated as her younger sister… Sarah has never forgiven me for cutting the dolls hair and painting her face in a similar tribal style, however I still maintain I would never have painted Hamble and that it was another dolly of much less importance to her!! Here is a part portion of a larger painting I’m currently working on. I liked the how effective her face was cropped in a frame, so I’ve uploaded it as a work to stand on it’s own, eventually I’ll finish the full work and upload it here also :) /
