The transcendental art of fire dancing, combined with a backdrop of stark, urban-industrial desolation. / The background represents the state of one’s life (like the inside of their mind) and the subject twirling fire represents the transmuting of this apathy of existence into the realization that there is so much more to life and the Universe than what is going on in their head.

This door handle was photographed in the Turkish town of Beypazari, settled in the hills of the Central Anatolian plateau. The town is full of centuries-old wooden Ottoman houses, some restored and some still in their original state. This door obviously hasn’t seen any restoration work, but to me the faded paint and decaying wood only add to its fascination.

Technique: Scanned an original drawing image, was digitally colour manipulated in Photoshop and then variables were placed in unit formation. Symbolism / Heart to heart – where Love = union of mind, body and spirit, resides, lives and empowers one’s being in LIFE (15). “Home is where the heart is” = oft in multiple places, both visible and invisible. Ink on 120 gsm Cartridge Paper (A4) digitally reversed (one of my first digital experiments) Views: 1392 as at 25-11-2009 I did this doodle whilst in hospital. I’d had some ‘funny’ heart beats and pains, hence the title. I rocked up at the emergency department of our local public hospital with a huge bag of art materials; ready for a 4-5 hour wait…..but, as soon as I mentioned pains in my chest…..well I didn’t even get to sit down, I was taken straight through and hooked up to all these monitors. So I spent the next 4 -5 hours in a bed (much more comfortable than the waiting room). I’m sure I have ‘Obsessive Creative Disorder’ because I can not stop drawing, creating, painting, doodling …..and no stay in hospital was going to stop me. I’m sure this was the most healing part of my stay as it really relaxed me, because deep down I really was scared.
