You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.” / Brought up beneath the church rafters of modern Christianity, a believer can find himself or herself wondering, “What´s the point?” So much of what is done at church seems filled with repetitious recital and traditional practice. You have your dos to do, and your don´ts to avoid,but isn´t there more? There is indeed. We were not called into a relationship with Christ so that we would enslave ourselves to legalistic rules or complicated rites. We are called to come to Jesus freely and to find freedom in Him through a relationship unlike any other we could have. As we draw closer to Jesus, it is necessary to practice disciplines within our Christian lives. But, the dos and don´ts, repetition and tradition were not meant to become our focus, but to better enable us to focus on Jesus. This is my signature piece, a very special work of art that was created with pure and raw emotion. I love if, it’s very personal and special. I have the huge original at home, and would never part with it. It has been revisited quite a few times over the last 5 years; it’s a continual work in progress, changing and evolving as I do. A psychedelic experience is characterized by the perception of aspects of one’s mind previously unknown, or by the creative exuberance of the mind liberated from its ostensibly ordinary fetters. Psychedelic states are an array of experiences elicited by sensory deprivation as well as by psychedelic substances. I have to give credit to my DD for drawing the mouth for this piece. (She is 10 years old) I was having issues with it, she came into my studio, and asked if she could do it for me. God bless her sweet little heart. I left it just as it was! :) Abstract painting created using several photographic layers, added textures, Photoshop, Painter X and a Wacom tablet.
