Closeup of a white lily
Cape Otway Lightstation is the oldest surviving lighthouse in mainland Australia. The light, which has been in continuous operation since 1848, is perched on towering sea cliffs where Bass Strait and the Southern Ocean collide. For thousands of immigrants, after many months at sea, Cape Otway was their first sight of land after leaving Europe. This exposure was taken on a Flexaret IIa Twin Lens Reflex, using Fujifilm Velvia 50. Being a medium format image, it happily enlarges to 24 inches with no loss in detail.
chairs, lots of chairs, pretty colours. / tel aviv, by the beach. holga, kodak, cross pro blahblahblah
todays upload is another pretty little shot taken at a friends place in the Hunter Valley with a cute as a button Holga camera. This lovely little plastic fantastic camera was loaded with 120 film ….Ecktachrome 64 …. for those who get into that sort of stuff…. anyway that means its an E6 process…. so its a transparency….. and there has been no fiddleing in Photoshop…. that lovely softness and the remarkable depth of the colour…. its all on the negative…... ahhhh film…...:) Look really really closely and you can see the tiny little row boat we use to put the beer in when swimming in this pocket sized dam when swimming with the yabbies. In the evenings the wallabys and galahs all come down to have a drink here…. so beautiful….
the next upload in my holga madness series. This is the same little boat in the same little dam as the shot I posted yesterday…. this time however its very very early in the morning and the rosy blush of the dawn sky can be seen reflected in the glassy waters of this beautiful little billabong. The little boat just serenely floats at the end of its tether waiting for the day to being and for people to seek it out and use its physicality rather just admire its form from the bank.
Today’s holga upload is another shot of this sweet little row boat floating on the glassy stillness of this little dam. The little white shapes in the background near the water are white sulphur crested cockatoos that have come to have a drink in the cool early morning before they get about the business of being busy and raucous for the rest of the day…. and seriously there is nothing as ear splitting as a bunch of cockatoos in full voice….. worse than a mach truck or a harley revving in the next room…. pretty though even if they are the delinquents of the bird world…....
Another photo from my current holga madness series. This one was taken at my place in Wollongong and this is the late afternoon sky framed by the little palm tree in my driveway…... and you all get to see how cruddy my gutters are…...:)
Another holga toy camera shot taken in the driveway of my home very late in the afternoon of a day heavy with a coming thunderstorm…. these violent summer storms in Sydney can be quite spectacular at times with all sorts of colours in the skys….. I’ve even seen green skies at times before a storm… anyway this approaching storm cloud was momentarily back lit by the sun and allowed me to shoot this incredible colour in the skys….. and it’s all nicely framed by the little palm tree in my driveway…..enjoy…..

Model – Millie Claire / MUA – Cloe Bunter of Makeup by Cloe Pentacon Six TL + Kodak Portra 160VC / I won’t show the digital versions, seems to have caused a little friction on dA ;) Needless to say if you’re familiar with the original Snow White text, you might just know what this is about :D Melbourne’s Parklands have very photogenic footpaths. I believe this was shot in the Queen Vic Park… I dunno, it was hot and there were a LOT of parks. Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas
Model – Meluxine These are some outtake/alternates from the same shoot as Apple Blossom Girl – I actually took LOTS of shots from that set and am having strife picking the final shots to use, and since I treat RB as an alt/outtake spot as well as a preview/never before seen/standard portfolio, I figured what the hell ;) This particular pair were shot on my late Grandfather’s Ensign Selfix 820 on god knows what film, Fuji NPS 160 I thiiiiink… or possibly Portra 400NC. I had no idea what to expect, having never put film through the damn thing before, so the fact they worked and looked delightfully dreamy was very cool. These are scanned from the 120 neg, straight off the camera – no editing aside from putting them next to each other and whacking my watermark on them. Woohoo. You can read about the camera here: http://licm.org.uk/livingImage/Selfix820.html Copyright 2008 Harmony Nicholas
A beautiful bluestone lane with a chair? Film: Porta colour slide (120mm) Camera: Mamiya c33 (65mm mamiya-sekor lens) Exposure: Somewhere around f4 on 1/60. The focus is maybe too shallow, although some enjoy the effect.
Camera: Kiev 88, with 80mm arsat lens with tripod Film: Kodak portra 160vc (120mm)....... ISO 160 Exposure: about 4 secs at f8
Inspired by Bonnie Tyler’s song Lost In France. For those who are interested, the girl is painted with watered-down acrylic paint, the Eiffel Tower view is painted with gouache and the rest is done with coloured pencils. This is a variation on my LOST IN FRANCE painting … The original was done on A4 paper and I decided to enlarge it to A3, but as I started doing that I decided it would be boring just to do a straight copy, so I did another version instead. I rather like both versions as they each have something different to offer. FEATURED IN ALL THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW GROUP – 12th September 2009
The closing of the day brings fabulous colours to our landscape. The flight of the birds heading to rest. Feel the day coming to an end when all will be still once again. A small mixed medium on watercolour paper all acid free
A mixed medium painting of watercolour and pastels of a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo sitting among the gum leaves and gum flowers. This is painted on Archers 300 cold press watercolour paper 100% cotton
Pop Art is a visual art movement that emerged in the mid 1950s in Britain and in parallel in the late 1950s in the United States. Pop Art challenged tradition by asserting that an artist’s use of the mass produced visual commodities of popular culture is contiguous with the perspective of Fine Art since Pop removes the material from its context and isolates the object, or combines it with other objects, for contemplation. The concept of Pop Art refers not as much to the art itself as to the attitudes that led to it.

A pastel drawing I did a few years ago. Before I became interested in photography, I loved to draw… and pastels were my favourite! This will be part of a calendar that I am currently working on with more pastel drawings… so stay tuned!!
