After seeing all the fantastic macro photos of flies on Redbubble I thought I’d add this one I did myself. I can’t afford a macro camera, but I did this with pen and pencils – a lot slower though :)) There is a story behind it too …. I drew the fly but made a mess of the background and discarded the picture. I found it later in a drawer and decided to use a very sharp knife and cut out the fly out. I then pasted it onto a fresh sheet of paper and drew the background in. Just goes to show that we should think twice before throwing stuff away … I nearly missed the chance of putting this on Redbubble :)

I’m bored, have a head cold and I’m stuck at home so I had to try and use my imagination with what I had around the house! I don’t know if I’ll keep this one up, I want to try and perfect it. It’s actually just a water drop on top of a tiny bougainvillea flower.. This can give you an idea of how tiny this actually is! Ohh, and this has not received any post processing.

This work has been featured in the Redfield Plugins Group and the Colour me a Rainbow Group ….....thanks so much to the moderators….... this one was inspired by a book i have on insects i was looking at it and thought they looked drab so i want to jazz them up a bit and so being influenced by Andy Warhol and some tiles i have in the shed lol see its already so convoluted ,but anyway it all came together in my wacky brain and this is the outcome ,,,,,,,,, firstly i sketched them then added colour by following the book i used corel brushes as usual got impasto in there for depth and then put them together Warhol style , i wanted some deep texture so into photoshop and played there with layers and filters till i got something i liked…....
