  • A slightly less cliched view of Sydney city across the harbour as seen from a newly restored piece of land on Waverton Peninsula. The land, once home to a BP oil refinery, built in 1923, was handed over to the local council in 2003 and despite hopes to have the park finished by the end of that year, it was finally opened to the public around March 2005.

  • I love this image. It was taken at Bo’ness harbour which, at the time of writing, is no longer used due to it being silted up. The old buoy has obviously been deposited at various places by the tide forming the patterns seen. I believe plans are afoot to clean the harbour.

  • Sunset colours over Mount Gabriel and Baltimore Harbour, West Cork, Ireland.

  • I love the lighting in this – the purple tones on the boats are caused by the mixing of the red and blue neon signs on the buildings in North Sydney (behind the camera). There’s a little blurring on the boats due to movement and the long exposure time, so please bear this in mind if you’re interested in purchasing prints, etc.

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER* This shot was taken at dawn on Thursday 10th April 2008, the vantage point was Blues Point looking east. The lens used was a Sigma 10-20mm lens i reccomend it as its not very expensive but comes in very handy. The camera used a Nikon D300, simple cleaning , sharpening and resiizing was done using Capture NX, there was also some straightening of the horizon ., but not much else. For those visiting Sydney the areas around McMahons Point and Blues Point on the Nothern side of the Harbour are good photo opportunity points, they can be acessed from Circular Quay by ferry This work is also available in black & White

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER* This shot taken using 5 Exposures generating one HDR image, taken at sunset from Mc Mahons Point on the Northern shore of Sydney Harbour. / For those visiting Sydney , Berrys Bay/Balls Head is easily accessable from by tain on the North Shore railway line . This side of the harbour offers panoramic views and the cheapest way to explore Sydney is with an explorer pass . Equipment: Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200 lens, no filters, processed usin Photomatix HDR Software My continuing experience with HDR is a learning one some tries work the way you expect sometimes they are a bit different… but hey it’s fun ! /

  • yesterday I uploaded some images of the two splendid lighthouses down by the harbour were I live in Wollongong…... and today I’m going to continue on my seawalk with my little plastic fantastic Holga….... just past the second lighthouse is a little park that over looks the harbour moorings and in that park is the most remarkable tree….. its been so twisted and tortured by the prevailing winds over the course of its life that its become a living sculpture…... I’ve taken lots of pictues of it but its so unreal that I find that I only really like the ones that come out of my funny little toy cameras….like this one and the one below it which was taken with a four lens action camera….. and is called…. my favorite trunk ..... and it is too….

  • Spring weather in Wellington can be really changeable. After a warm, sunny day, bad weather rolls in across the harbour. So much for the promise of the rainbow!

  • A view of Wellington from Mount Victoria. A beautiful windless sunset. It was a nice day. Wellington harbour can be seen on the right hand side and Courtenay Place on the left, a very popular place with a great night life.

  • This image was originally an acrylic-on-canvas painting I made for my sister who now lives in Australia. It includes a bottle of a famous Irish porter in the foreground so my sister won’t forget where she floated in from. / This is a digital conversion I made from the original acrylic-on-canvas painting. I was not able to aquire a quality photo image when I painted it. While identical to the original painting, this image has a cleaner and sharper look when viewed close up. This allows better and larger prints to be produced by Redbubble. / The original painting can be viewed at my website / and it’s also featured below in the video here. And here’s a photo of the original acrylic-on-canvas painting displayed in the home of it’s owner This painting is also available from here where you can zoom in on it for a closer look. Please remember that this is a digital conversion of an original acrylic painting. Judge for yourself, but in my opinion the digital image is a lot cleaner and subtle to the eye.
