I have been waiting for this kind of shot for a long time. The storms were fierce with a ton of rain last night. I decided to take of work and spend the day at the falls near my house. I must have snapped 200 pictures today. What a great day!! I found a new toy its my infrared lens. Of course I have many different shots just like this :-) I posted a photo in color as well at a different time called – Approaching / Autumn / ....................................................................................................................... / / ....................................................................................................................... / Click to View By Category: / - Waterfall Photos / - Selective Coloring / - Infrared Photos / - Black and White Photos / - Animal Photos / ............................................................................................................... / / ................................................................................................................ /

We took the kids to Crich tramway museum today in the Peak District….they loved it. Ollie got very animated and excited….steam trains and trams seem to be his thing! Hurrah…..I am sooooooo going to make him a train set for Xmas! Anyway…..Lots to see and do at this museum…..you can ride the trams all day if you want! I have not been here since I was a boy…..it was a wonderful return. Not suprisingly They have added a few things…...one being a woodland walk from the terminus at the far end of the line. There are woodland sculptures that punctute the forest path, stone sculptures and other art installations with built in stained glass to catch the light! Then there is a wooden viewing platform…...this photo was taken standing on the very edge! I have been all over Europe, I worked in Spain for a while after finishing university in the early 90’s. I have been to the states…....but nothing stops me as still as the painterly majesty of Derbyshire. It takes my breath away everytime. Perhaps it is because I am English that it promotes such wonderment in me…...but I love it. I have had flirtations with teaching in New Zealand….and indeed would relish the opportunity of a placement there….....but I dont know of the depth and pull of the roots would stop the branches spreading…..this is who I am…...

I was spoiled for seascapes last week….as I am sure you will discover….tee hee! And yes Stuart…this is where I phoned you from. This was taken on the Plage De Pleuren in Brittany, France. Shot in RAW…some noise reduction and a tweak of the levels and thats it….....I have a number of shots from this area. I could have stayed in that part of Brittany for 6 months and photographed a different rocky cove every night…spoiled for choice!

I had the pleasure…for the second weekend running…..of the irrepressible Greame Pettit. I asked him yesterday if he was up for ‘not quite stupid’ o’clock. / He said he was and as sure as eggs is eggs he met me at the boathouse on Thornton reservoir at 6am…..I was just lining up a shot and cursing because my remote release had finally given up the ghost when he came oooh ahhh thricketing out of the early morning light…..this is one of my best efforts of the morning.

I saw the reflection of that “prisoned” tree in the window, while I was enjoying a mountain climb here in Macedonia, a moment before i could see it free. It gave me a thought of what are we doing to our mother nature and couldn’t resist to pull the shutter of my camera as a modest contribution to a free green planet.
