I purposefully went to Cradle Mountain in Autumn to get the colours of the deciduous beech tree (northofagus gunnii. With the help of the morning light, I came away with this beautiful memory.

An old 1930’s Mercedes Benz on exhibition at NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) in Melbourne. This car was a V8 had automatic transmission and went from 0 – 100kmph in only 16 seconds! haha how times change! Background desaturated in Photoshop and Gaussian Blur applied to background layer. This photo was taken at the National Gallery of Victoria on St. Kilda Rd, Melbourne. There was a girl resting on one of the concrete slabs. Highlighting her was what I wanted to achieve in this image. The large black area in this is the archway entrance and reflection to the building.

In Northern Minnesota we took a canoe trip in Voyageurs National Park. The day we arrived it was raining lightly and a very heavy fog sat over the lakes and rivers. It seemed our September vacation was not off to a very pleasant start. While standing on the dock waiting for our boat to come and shuttle us to Kettle Falls on the US/Canadian border, I took this picture of a small waterfall coming into the Ash river and the autumn colors reflecting off the water. The next three days were gloriously sunny and mild. The fall leaves were stunning and the blue water of the park lakes was truly just like a dream.

This is the sunset at Nambung National Park located about 245 km drive north from Perth, Western Australia. I am not sure what has caused this sky colour. This little gem can be found just around the corner from Loch Ard Gorge near Port Campbell off Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Australia. I came here the afternoon before and there were snap happy tourists everywhere but decided to come back the next morning and there wasn’t a soul in sight, just the crashing ocean to keep me company… Unfortunately as of early June 2009 this archway has collapsed leaving two apostles next to eachother. The Fenland Trail in the morning affords a good opportunity to see wildlife moving around the marsh and river areas. This trail connects to the Bow River Trail which actually goes all the way into Banff townsite proper. If you have time, this is a nice easy walk to get to this area without actually having to drive to get to it. The Vermillion Lakes are slightly to the west of the Fenland Trail and you can either walk to them or drive your car and use the pulloffs available. It’s a bit noisy being so close to the Trans Canada Hwy, but the scenery more than makes up for it. Throughout the day you’ll see numerous waterfowl frequenting the area. The real draw, however, is in the evening when the winds are low and the water is still, making the lake surface a mirror reflection of the now beautifully lit Mt Rundle in the background. It’s Winter in Australia, which means the Wattle is beginning to bloom. In my area we’ll soon be surrounded by a sea of bouncing little balls of yellow…... Did you know : / - Wattle is Australia’s official floral emblem, having adorned our Coat Of Arms since 1912. / - there are around 950 different species of Wattle….. which is why I have no clue as to which one this is! / - On 1 September 1910 the Sydney Morning Herald stated: / “To many Australians the wattle stands for home, country, kindred, sunshine and love; every instinct that the heart most deeply enshrines.”........ nice :) [canon 1000D, canon scanner for texture, PS watercolour] WINNER – Wattle challenge – October 2009

Taken at Springbrook National Park at The Natural Bridge on the 5th of October, 2009. The following evening we came back to view the glow worms on the cave walls, it was definitely an amazing experience (minus the stupid people shining their torches straight onto the glow worms, smoking near them and using camera flash!). Please View Large On a wonderful day out with Jason Connolly one of the places that we visited was Ullswater and Jason wanted to see the boathouse down at the Pooley Bridge End. After the recent deluge I was suprised to see the jetty was still under water. This image was taken lying down on a cold freezing concrete floor looking towards Pooley Bridge, the colours in the water were amazing. Nikon D300 (S) / Sigma 24-70mm
Please View Large I was so pleased I had my mid zoom lens on my camera on my recent walk around Buttermere with Jason Connolly and Gary Kenyon. This then enabled me to zoom in on this private land area of Buttermere on these wonderful trees which seemed the perfect foreground for the distant colourful fells. Nikon D300 (S) / Sigma 18-200mm
