Canon 20D – 17-40mm L – 17mm – 1s – f/11 Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Upper Antelope Canyon, called Tse bighanilini, “the place where water runs through rocks” by the Navajo, is the most frequently visited by tourists, due to two considerations. First, its entrance and entire length are at ground level, requiring no climbing. Second, beams (shafts of direct sunlight radiating down from openings in the top of the canyon) are much more common in Upper than in Lower. The original artwork is done in acrylic on stretched canvas. This was painted on a cold windy winter night a few years ago, and I wanted to paint something that will warm me up. What better way than a nice cosy blanket with swirls and colours! Enjoy!

Morning rainbow, Jokulsarlon, Iceland Iceland / Belgium / Hungary / France / Spain / Sri Lanka / USA / London / Portraits / Other Jokulsarlon is a glacial lake that meets the sea in Iceland. One of the most beautiful places i have been on our little planet Earth. The tragedy is that this beautiful photo would not be possible without global warming. When in a cafe at a petrol station i saw a postcard of Jokulsarlon. One single large iceberg floating in the centre. As you can see now the lake is full. Note: The size if this work was increased using Photoshop CS2. / Best size being around the 50cm wide.

La Rue Obscure is the oldest street in the old town of Villefranche sur Mer on the French Riviera, between Nice and Monaco. It was built on virgin soil at the beginning of the 13th century. La Rue Obscure formed the basis of the rest of the town’s construction on the slopes rising from this coastal lane. It gave inhabitants of the town certain refuge against possible attacks. The ship captains who were forced by storms to anchor in the bay, could make necessary repairs in safety. La Rue Obscure also welcomed precious merchandise, such as wine, in its cellars.

Took this a couple of weeks ago of my little girl at the beach and realised it’s potential this morning when I started to play with the colour, light and layers so of course I though that I would share!

Migaloo is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper. Gazing out to sea on a warm summer day, she notices something, some movement further out to see, was that a splash or just the sea crashing on a bombie or coral reef out there? squinting…..squinting…..squinting…..... oh my! it’s a white whale!....Migaloo no less!
