This image was originally an acrylic-on-canvas painting I made for my sister who now lives in Australia. It includes a bottle of a famous Irish porter in the foreground so my sister won’t forget where she floated in from. / This is a digital conversion I made from the original acrylic-on-canvas painting. I was not able to aquire a quality photo image when I painted it. While identical to the original painting, this image has a cleaner and sharper look when viewed close up. This allows better and larger prints to be produced by Redbubble. / The original painting can be viewed at my website / and it’s also featured below in the video here. And here’s a photo of the original acrylic-on-canvas painting displayed in the home of it’s owner This painting is also available from here where you can zoom in on it for a closer look. Please remember that this is a digital conversion of an original acrylic painting. Judge for yourself, but in my opinion the digital image is a lot cleaner and subtle to the eye.
After arriving at the beach after work I started walking to the point but couldn’t resist taking a snap of this bucket that just happened to be sitting on the shore. There wasn’t even any people around so I wondered how it had got there… Processed in Adobe Lightroom 2 only, experimented with the new adjustment brushes which are coooool! Used Cokin ND4 grad and circular polarising filters, taken with a Canon 400D Click here for my other seascapes Featured in the Selective Colouring Group in January 2009 Featured in the Canon DSLR Group in January 2009 Featured in the All About Water group in January 2009
The Couta Boats are a classic vessel originally used for fishing on the Victorian coast from the 1870s through until WW2. To obtain the best prices for their catch, the fishermen had to be first back to port after filling their quota. So, as well as being a good fishing vessel and load-carrier, the Couta Boats had to be nimble and fast under sail. They also had to take on some of Australia’s most treacherous waters through The Rip and Bass Strait, and bring crew and catch back safely. Now these distinctive little boats zip around Port Phillip Bay in highly competitive races, giving a classic look to sport on the water. More Mornington Peninsula ...

Got up for dawn at Port Campbell only for it to be drizzly and overcast, but by the time I got down to the beach and the sun started to rise some awesome colour came through and it made the early start well and truly worth it! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. This little gem can be found just around the corner from Loch Ard Gorge near Port Campbell off Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Australia. I came here the afternoon before and there were snap happy tourists everywhere but decided to come back the next morning and there wasn’t a soul in sight, just the crashing ocean to keep me company… Unfortunately as of early June 2009 this archway has collapsed leaving two apostles next to eachother. You know how it goes! Got here around sunset just as a bus load full of overseas tourists rocked up so we quickly ran and found a spot so they wouldn’t get in the way. Was hard to get a still shot with kids running all over the boardwalk but managed to finally get there! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. Taken on a recent trip to Port Arthur – my most favourite place in the world so far. This is the avenue that leads to the Port Arthur church, otherwise known as my sanctuary :) I have visited Port Arthur many times, however this was the first time I have seen it wearing it’s autumn colours. So very beautiful…
