This egret was just taking off (he didn’t want to pose for the portrait that I wanted) and I was able to track him and get the shot. The sun was perfect for great reflections at the time and I had the speed setting high in case he did start to move.

Another part of my job is casting metals. Sometimes, on very rare occasions a few of us will see small spot that spilled and formed some sort of shape that looks oddly familiar. This was one of those shapes… A fairy wing… the different colors is because the metal was poured in a vacuum and an inert gas was injected into the chamber. As the metal cooled it oxidized in different colors as the gas was let out of the chamber. Rocket science and art! And the size of this stretches across your ZXC and V keys on your keyboard so it’s small…

This Orange-winged Parrot is a large Amazon parrot. It is a resident breeding bird in tropical South America, from Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago south to Peru and central Brazil. Its habitat is forest and semi-open country. It is quite a prolific bird not really threatened and perhaps that is what explains his rather undisturbed demeanor as I was able get fairly close to him. / This one was taken near the river “Cravo Sur” just outside of Yopal, Casanare Colombia / /

Great as an Easter card, it could also be used to underline a more special event. There are a lot of symbols in here aside from the obvious. Eggs represent the Creation, the four elements and life itself. It is a powerful symbol of birth and rebirth. The butterfly is a symbol of transformation, love and joy. In some cultures, it is also associated with feminineness, beauty and fragility. More often, we see it representing freedom. This is a composite made of 2 flower photos and one of a butterfly, altered to look like an illustration and used twice here in two different hues. The egg has been created digitally. Walking along the shore the tiny angel takes a step for every soul lost at sea / Everyone who’s ever encountered the ocean’s strength’s / She prays for each one and helps those still here remember them with honor. (This is my precious little angel Tammy you see pictured here.)
