  • I have produced hundreds of scribbles, sketches, drawings, cartoons and paintings over the years, yet when someone asks me how I come up with ideas for work I tell them I’m really not sure. A truly original idea for a piece of art is always a gift from somewhere else, and you just hope and pray it might happen again. I have thought about this subject a lot, about where inspiration or stream of consciousness comes from. The result was a large oil painting titled “Waiting for Inspiration”. It portrays a painter sitting on the floor of his studio adjacent to a large blank canvas propped up against the wall. A dirt road runs through the middle of the room, past the canvas and off into the distance. / The painter I guess is me, waiting to thumb that lift, to take that ride, to catch that inspiration.. before it passes through. / - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - - - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – /

  • Corfe Castle is a ruined castle, village and civil parish in the English county of Dorset. The castle dates back to the 11th century, and commands a gap in the Purbeck Hills on the route between Wareham and Swanage. Even to this day, all road traffic to and from the Swanage area must pass below the battlements of the castle. The picturesque village of Corfe Castle lies in the gap below the castle, and is some eight kilometres (five miles) south-east of Wareham, and the same distance west of Swanage. Both the current main A351 road to Swanage, and the Swanage Railway, thread their way through the gap and the village. The civil parish of Corfe Castle stretches across the width of the Isle of Purbeck, with coasts facing both the English Channel and Poole Harbour. It therefore includes sections of both the low lying sandy heathland that lies to the north of the castle, and the rugged Jurassic Coast upland to the south. The name “Corfe” is derived from the Saxon word for gap. All photographs and artworks in this portfolio are copyrighted and owned by the artist, Anne Staub. • I live in a village called Merville near Toulouse, the fourth biggest city in France. When you come from Toulouse, you have to go that road. Reaching the end of this wooden tunnel takes you to Merville’s Castle, shyly hidden in its green grounds… Clic on photo below

  • MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD / Best viewed large. / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group COUNTRY ROADS/AROUND THE WORLD / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group NATURAL COLOR AND LIGHT / / / This is a recent photo of my favorite country road! It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. / / The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches. This road winds around a gorgeous mountain cloaked with a variety of lush trees and evergreens, whose leaves are radiant in the Fall of the year with brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and green. / / At the top of the mountain is the end of this magnificent road, which leads to a private, gated mansion that overlooks the entire county. It is very quiet and peaceful there, and everything, including time, seems to stand still on this beautiful road. It is a breath-taking view from the very top, and this is truly my favorite country road!.. / / / To read and learn more about this special country road, / go to:COUNTRY ROAD

Best Viewed Larger This beautiful road is one of my favorite parts of the drive to our cabin in Pennsylvania. To the right is Chappell Field, a part of Blue Knob State Park on the extension of Pavia Road (4035), and is frequently the site of fairs and concerts and happy picnickers. Over my shoulder and between the trees is a magnificent view of the valley which I’ve tried to capture over and over again … one of these days I’ll get it right. Image taken on October 11, 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. UV and CP filters attached. Shutter 1/320, f/9.0, exp. 0.00, iso 1600. Post processing work included hdr in Photomatix from a single hand-held image at +/- 2 created in Photoshop. Other tweakings included deletion of a hideous flat white cloud, area filled with blue and addition of fluffy clouds (thank you Obsidian Dawn for the cloud brushes) in Photoshop, plus the addition of two textures … thank you to Princess of Shadows at Deviant Art. WHEEEEEEE!!!! / 705 views on 11/7/09 This image was taken at the same time on October 10, 2009, and in relatively the same spot as Almost Home , but I was turned in the other direction, looking back the way I’d come. This area is within the Blue Knob State Park in Pavia, Pennsylvania on the extension of Pavia Road (4035). Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200m vr Nikon lens, hand held. Shutter 1/400, aperture f/10.0, exp. 0.00, iso 1,000. Duplicates created in Photoshop to an eval of +3, +1 and -3 and processed in Photomatix Pro for hdr, then returned to Photoshop for the addition of two textures and some tweaking. Well, actually, considerable tweaking. How do the road workers know to put their obnoxious signs RIGHT where I want to snap a shot??? And as for the RVers off to the left … well .. thank heavens for the clone tool, LOL!!! My thanks to Princess of Shadows at Deviant Art for the textures.
