A couple of small changes were made to the site this morning. You can now elect to receive your funds transfers via a PayPal account (to change your payments settings go to mybubble->account->edit your payment details). And you can now choose what colour your t-shirt designs appear on the site. To change the default t-shirt colour go to mybubble->portfolio and click on the t-shirt design. Down the bottom of the screen you’ll see all the colour options and a new option called ‘preferred style’.

Hey everybody! / What the heck am I supposed to do now? The journal was my whole thing and now its a blog and I can’t stand out like a sore toe like I used to. I want people to see my blog and now its shuffled to the back unless it’s really cool or something. Oh well. Anyway I have been thinking about some redbubble possible mods I thought you might like to hear about (and comment on): 1. How about Postcards as well as Cards? / 2. How about RB business cards or brochures/catalogues so we can spruke about our gear? (Discounted for RB users of course) That way I can do a letterbox drop or place a brochure under your windscreen wiper while your happily shopping away. (annoying huh?) / 3. I don’t love the new journal format on the front page. / 4. How about some kind of artist ID on the tshirts – maybe on the collar tag beside the washing instuctions? / 5. How about featuring my gear on the frontpage for a whole week to make up for this new journal/blog monstrosity? I’m not sure I’ll ever really forgive you but this might help. More ideas to come. I’m an ideas man. I come up with stuff.

To all my friends and fellow artists, / I’m finding out more and more every day what a great community of creative and friendly people are involved with RedBubble. Do you think it would be possible to set things up in RedBubble to allow people from certain categories to collaborate on a book that could then be printed? (I.E.: Members load their best photos into a book section of the Web site to be self-published on-demand, and sold on the Web site for RedBubble’s and the included artists’ benefit?) I believe that other sites like www.CafePress.com and www.Lulu.com already have this capability. I would be interested in participating in something like this, even if there was an up-front fee to help RedBubble make it happen. / Perhaps there might be a way to work with a on-demand publisher/printer such as www.Trafford.com. I’m excited about this possibility, and there are so many great artists on RedBubble that I can’t help but think that they also would be excited about this prospect, and that we could do a very appealing book that could potentially help all the professional and emerging artists on RedBubble publish and sell their work. Please consult with others on this and let me know what you think… Thanks, / Curtis / ——- Hi Nodakami, / Thanks for the tips, comments and suggestions! I’m a newbie, so I hope you will bear with me. I’ll try to address some of the points you’ve touched on… Some people said that a RB book would be too big if it had no categorical way to narrow it down, so I just threw that in, but I suppose it could be for everyone with internal categories (like fantasy, realism, fractal, B&W, etc.), (if it was not so big as to become cost-prohibitive). I would think it would be “all the above” that you mentioned; I.E.: for the artists, for RB, and for sale, IF it was really nice and the marketplace would like it and wish to purchase it. Your “Best of” idea sounds good to me. I think RB is interested in the online print-on-demand book idea, and any printed works would surely boost their membership. I think they are interested in something that would work similar to the calender creation, but whatever form it takes, I’ve learned that it may take awhile to become a reality on RB. There are many works of art on RedBubble that are so uniquely beautiful, that it just seems like a natural thing to want to see them on large glossy pages in a book. If the RB artists express an interest, I will try to put their ideas out there on the suggestions forum, and also post to my journal and to other forums. You expressed another good idea in that short artist “bios” and/or lifestyle essays could be included with their work. This type of book would be great exposure for RedBubble and also for those of us who are “Emerging Artists”. I’m really excited about this possibility. In a relatively short time I’ve already grown to like the artists on RB, and to appreciate their awesome work. The best thing that could happen is that people like yourself might become interested in this possibility and together we could encourage RB to help us make it happen. Thanks again for your ideas and input, / Curtis / —- webgrrl wrote you a BubbleMail 4 days ago: i think its possible.. its just a matter of planning it out ..and someone to instigate it…. like the build it and they will come? yes cafepress has book printing capabilities..but if im not mistaken.. LULU (lulu.com) is the leader in self book publishing.. ive made a calendar there with them.. http://www.lulu.com/content/905970 and i have to say that i really like the option of having black bkground (so far the only place able to do that..and custom holidays as well..) id be interested in projects / help / things like that.. if you see my profile and see all the sites/projects that im doing all myself.. cuz i got tired of waiting for others to do it with me..so i just started them myself… and hope everyday…… others will want to join.. :/

It’s been annoying me that when I upload an image onto RB, the colour saturation of the images is very muted, this doesn’t occur as obviously when I upload to other sites so I’ve been experimenting with different profiles in Photoshop. And surprisingly, the answer is for Redbubble, save your work without a colour profile embedded. Here are two images that are identical. The first is with my standard colour profile embedded and the colours appear muted here compared to how they look in PS. The second is saved without a colour profile and then it appears the same on RB as it does in PS. Strange but it works for me. I think the reason for this is that when a colour profile is embedded, then RB must be replacing that with their own colour profile for optimum printing. This means a conversion which subtly (or not so subtly) alters the colours. When no colour profile is in the upload, then RB does the same thing but because there is no initial colour profile to change, it simply maps its own profile to the actual colours resulting in a displayed image that is much closer to the original. My logic may be flawed but it does work.

/ The Big 30…30,000 views!!! WOW! I’m feeling old! LOL! No really, it’s great…no actually it’s fantastic! Thank you to each and every one who has become a part of my life, my views and even my artwork itself. Here are some of my favorite highlights since the last ten thousand miles… The biggest news I probably have to announce is the publishing of my artwork in “Artists of The West” book! It is a true milestone for me and a great personal success. It was an amazing project to be involved in and over a three year journey. I ended up making some great friends and contacts along the way and really bonded with everyone involved in the book. / After the release of the book there was some really exciting events to follow like the first book signing in St. Helens with the official release. / I am also doing a public book signing, autographs and a special unveiling of three of my new paintings at the Astoria Sunday Market later this month. The Astoria Sunday Market / / (Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you’re interested or would like more information on the event) Also I am VERY excited to be a part of the RedBubble Rialto Towers art exhibit ironically also on July 27th the same date of my book signing in Astoria, Oregon! My work First Tree was chosen along with 40 other works of art to show in the foyer of the Rialto Towers for a two week art show! I am honored and thrilled to be showing my work alongside the other amazing artists and my RedBubble friends! I was also a part of some wonderful collaborations My collaboration piece Through The Past To The Future with my friend Michael Gatch was a total success and incredibly fun! It was inspired by his photo Through The Past / We had such a good time we did another one… / Apple Harvest which was inspired by Michael’s photo Old Apple When I looked at this work I saw the tree as the point of life that was celebrated and brought people and family together. I wanted to I take it back in time or to another time perhaps. I also had a fantastic collaboration with my dear friend Paul Hobday / I was really inspired by his photo Twisted and had a vision of what eventually became…The Other Side Of The Fence my newest work. Again THANK YOU to each of you who took the time to view my work, comment on my work and invest into me and my career. My art work is the road in this life that I have chosen to make a living on and really…it is my life. In each painting or drawing I create I try to leave a bit of myself to be shared with another person. / Thank you so much for supporting and embracing me and one of my true loves…art!

One week ago I uploaded my Enter The Dusk T-shirt, & almost immediately it was featured by RB on the T-shirts page. / Since upload it has been viewed almost 600 times, has sold 4 times, & is the 2nd most popular Tee for the past 7 days. (second only to Shotgun Wedding by BigFatRobot ...... who can top a Tee like that? It’s hilarious!!) All of these things have me feeling extremely grateful to all concerned, & I Thank you, but it also has me thinking….. / I’ve made quite a few T-shirts, & each time my skills seem to be improving; albeit slowly. / Yet, it’s this particular Tee that has proved to be a success for me. / I can only assume it’s because of that feature on the T-shirt page…... / So Redbubble, for giving my T-shirt the opportunity at a little bit of extra exposure, I Thank you whole-heartedly!! edit some hours later : woohoo!!! Just made most popular in last 7 days!!! THANK-YOU!!! While you’re here, lets share the love & check out some of these fabulous T-Shirts from other bubblers : /

it’s just been indicated to me, although this has been perhaps pointed out in the past also that some of my works ie red bull redit / appear very dark on certain screens. Possibly it’s because the resolution/ graphics on my iMac is extremely high. Are you able to see the definition between the cow/ bull & the rest of the image?? / I would be interested to hear your view on this. Keep in mind that the colours I produce visually are what I as the artist love… I realise that then there is a dilemma that what ideally is visually pleasing on a computer screen doesn’t necessarily translate to print… cheers, d.
