  • When I woke up before dawn and found myself wondering along the shore with a camera a tripod, this was precisely the image I was after. The boat reminded me of the frailties of our existence, all alone, stranded at low tide, unable to float around with any dignity with the ominous clouds closing in on it’s steel hull. Yet it stood proud and tall, living each day as it came at the mercy of nature and the elements around it.

  • sunset and palm tree

  • a beautiful night at the beach ( slow shutter speed)

  • Amazing that such a cold morning can seem to warm in a photograph, all because of color and light….needless to say I was freezing when I shot this and cold tripods usually don’t tend to warm your hands up well lol / Captured at Cherry Creek State Park, Colorado

  • The sun rising in the desert after a cold night is like music, first the strings give their hint of the warmth to come, the first glow of dawn, then the brass and horns announce the coming of the sun, finally the kettle drums bring the great disc above the horizon. Then a new day is born, with all its color, warmth and splendor, the cold of night is a dim memory. Created with Artmatic and PS

  • The August sun sleepily lifts above the horizon off the coast of Virginia Beach, illuminating the Atlantic shoreline. This picture was taken on what the Guinness Book of World Records states is the longest pleasure beach in the world. This section of the coast is also rife with history. Cape Henry, the site of the English colonists’ first landing in 1607, is a mere few miles to the north. ISO 100 1/50 f/5.6 20mm, taken using a Sony A300 w/ kit lens. Three exposures at -2,0, and 2 were blended in Photomatix to yield an HDR. Featured in 1620!

  • I visited this area many times over the last 20 years to photograph this very scene, usually in the dark after twilight. I was there two nights ago and I couldn’t resist shooting it again as the sun set. I was also fortunate this time to have the lights from the two cars which passed by, one up and one down the hill, aligned so nicely. This is taken at “Ladies Lookout” atop Signal Hill, St John’s Newfoundland Canada. “Ladies Lookout” is so named because from this very point women would for generations walk there to look for signs of their men returning from the fishing grounds, the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. You can only imagine when Mother Nature unleashed the mighty North Atlantic the humility these people must have felt! Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 30 / Av( Aperture Value ) 22.0 / ISO Speed 100 For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr

  • Sometimes there’s a sunrise that’s impossibly beautiful, nearly too much to bear. You know the kind: that one sunrise you see every once in a while that, if you painted it, everyone would say, “Nothing looks like that! Nothing could be that beautiful!” So maybe you don’t even try. Over the years those sunrises collect in us, bursts of brilliance in our memories, demanding to be seen and shared. This image is a sunrise I saw about 6 years ago: one that flung its colors at me: shocking me with its saturated turquoise and then whispering comfort to me with its ever-so-sweet yellow. / Corel Painter Essentials 4.
