My origami calendar I hope people aren’t tired of my origami; but I needed to do this before the flower dies; my mom brought some flowers back from a wedding two weekends ago, and when I saw this particular flower, I really wanted to create this image because the centre of this flower looked like a field. The folded peacock is comprised of two piece of paper: one for the body, the other for the tail. The body is made from a 6×6mm paper, and the tail I faned out of a circle about 1cm in diameter which I cut a slit through. The peacock walks through a field of colour and gets pollen on itself; and that is how the peacock got its color! We were in Singapore I think when my mom bought these really pretty glass sweets, they were the size of an actual sweet but in differnt shapes and colors. I was working in the studio at that time and i noticed the shadow was made up of such lovely colors but the trick was to get the angle of the light just right so that the shadow turned out not blurry nor distorted but a true shadow of the sweet. And after many blurry shots I finally nailed it. /

This still life took on a life of its’ own. It ended up as a cubist piece with surrealistic tendencies and mysterious undertones. Again, as with other pieces of mine, completely unintended. Acrylic on paper. It is hard to pick a favorite piece but if I could, this would be it. I think it works even though it doesn’t exactly fit one style and the fact that it works and is a pleasure to look at makes it my favorite. It is also an intense piece with lots of rich color laid down layer over layer and I think that gives it depth and gives it a grounded feel. I have a passion for color and this piece shows that passion.

Some more of these wonderful velvety roses, greatest roses ever I swear. I adjusted the white balances when I shot this to give it a more bluish tone. Taken indoors with flash and with a sigma 105 mm macro lens. Enjoy!
