Letting Art Go By:Linaji 2009 When I was 11 I used to cut school / Walk to the beach and pretend / I pretended I was loved / And I pretended I was beautiful I used to sit then on the sand / And pick up shells and use them as / A phone to my heart / Worried that I was not hearing Me! I did not know it then but / I wasn’t. I laid back and let tears roll down my cheeks / I laid back and heard the wind sweep across my belly / I laid back and shut my eyes to the bright new day / I laid back and dreamed I was loved / And light and gay… Sometimes when the weather was a mix of / Sun and clouds / And the smell of rain arose / I would get a feeling: / It had edges of smiles and tender pats on the backside / It had a feeling / I still get when I open my bed / And jump inside cause it is so cold / But I pull the covers over me and / Shiver shiver shiver / And laugh all the while I never asked anyone in the world if they do this / Or did. / But it feels exciting almost sexual and free.. And, alone on the beach with the wind sand and sea / I would feel this amazing loneliness that seemed to have / Jumped off from the shoulders of this expansive joy. / Like I just made something so beautiful / And had to let it go. That’s what I feel today / As I look at the strokes of love and the / Layers of light I just allowed into Being / Which for some damn reason, / Feels all at once beautiful / And all at once Lost. I seem to worry / Does that mean I lost a part of me? / Or / Have I released the latch? / The one that opens my heart / Once again, / To another realm of Creation
Many years ago, sometime in the early 1990’s, my husband and I were travelling through Hopi land, outside of Truth or Consequences, Arizona and happened upon a Tribal officer while camping, and we shared a pot of coffee with him. In our conversation, he noticed a basket of sacred white sage, that I usually wrapped while we drove through the countryside, prompting him to telling us about Oraibi, the oldest (still standing) native site in the U.S. He continued by telling us of a gathering there on the following day, and that he’d like to invite us to attend and we wholeheartedly agreed. / We started our morning having a traditional Hopi breakfast of Frybread, black beans and eggs, then we drove up to the Mesas, ignoring the signs that read “No White Man beyond this point”, we drove up a winding road, while I wrapped and was burning sage. When we reached the dwellings, many people were coming out of their homes and surrounding our hippie van (‘78 Dodge). It turns out they had not had white sage (grandmother sage) growing on their land for a couple of years, so when they smelled it coming from our vehicle they had to investigate. Thank Creator that it grew like weeds on our property in California, and we had plenty with us. We gifted several people with wrapped bundles, while others wished to trade for torquoise, blue corn and dye-making instruction. It was a wonderful morning, and we felt good that they mentioned it was a significant gift for the upcoming gathering, which they also invited us to attend. / After eating lunch with a beautiful Hopi family, we drove down the Mesa, following our new friends to Oraibi. When we arrived, there were maybe a dozen people standing around, we got out of the van and an elder man in jeans, a flannel shirt and a bandana around his head, approached us, as I held out a small basket of bundled sage, he just smiled. He took the basket in his roughly worn hands and motioned for us to follow him. We sat down in a circle with what grew to about 30 people, at this time and another man began speaking about the Earth and introduced the elderly man as the authorized spokesperson to speak on behalf of the Elders of the Hopi Nation – Thomas Banyacaya. / I was actually aware of who this elder was, and shocked that I was standing beside him as he was to address a chosen group of tribal and non-tribal (us) members, which was now about 75 people. This humble man would share a message of clear intent and great importance… We are the One’s we have been waiting for… / We have been telling the people that this is the eleventh hour. Now you must go back and tell the people that this is the hour. And there are things to be considered: / Where are you living? / What are you doing? / What are your relationships? / Are you in right relationship? / Know your garden. It is time to speak your truth. Create your community. Be good to each other. And do not look outside yourself for a leader. This could be a good time. / There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold onto the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and they will suffer greatly. / Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore and push off into the river. Keep your eyes open and your head above water. See who is in there with you and celebrate. / At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally. Least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt. / The time of the Lone Wolf is over. Gather yourselves! / Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary. / All that you do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. / We are the one’s we have been waiting for.” This artwork is a symbol of the rain deity that I remembered from a rock drawing we saw while at Hopi land, near Betatakin. Drawn, photographed, then painted in photoshop7 (it is also the T-shirt design called Earth Tribe with a slight alteration) All, all and everything is of importance and nothing that is good happens fast. Thanks to my serendipitous sister, owlspook, a link providing the same message ;) New Hopi Prayer
I melt when you come down and curl up with me, / Candle drips and curly tips / Here you are my babyji / Sobbing lightly and descending to chill / Now I am attracted to you most / In all my senses / Participating / Available / Without thought or notion / Of where we began / Any of this… It is when you set all the vibrating ideas / Aside, / That spins you like a topsy tervy / Whirling dervish / And you box them up and pack them away / …..only for a moment, I know, / It is then that I see / You. / A Soul completely simple and basic / And here it is the loving of Us / That I feel / Nothing comes between us except / Maybe a fine smearing of tears, / Soon to be dried / Against the warmth of my skin. There is quiet / The quiet that makes me focus on the sound of our Kiss, / Or the complete understanding of my / Hands sliding over your skin / Then the involuntary intake of breath when I’ve Touched you / Somewhere that makes you feel / Grounded here / On the common waves of silence / Human and raw / Intertwined / Allowing your own sexuality / To call you in / And let my love speak in tones / That become the color of our world. LOVE OPENS UP DOORS THAT WERE ONCE CLOSED On The Shores of Now
This is my niece Alanna.. she rocks my world. I have used her in several of my pieces and this one is for me one of my fav shots. She got my 6 inch boots on one day..(I ended up giving them to her) and she floated around my home as I kept shooting. She wants me to manage her career in Hollywood in a couple of years from now as she knows her Auntie L don’t take no bull. She goes to Cornish University in Seattle Wash. and is awarded a big Scholarship for her abilities as an actress. Which for a school like that are far and few between. She knows where I came from and she trusts me. I trust her. i trust her ability to be young and wrong and dream and live and allow life to show her what the next turn is in the road. I have never ever told her she had or she should do anything. I have told her if she asked me how I solve my problems and what I still can’t seem to do very well. But though my relationship with her I feel more of the youth I still have lurking well within this soul. I love teens and young people. I tend to give them more room than my peers in my head as amazing beings, and this is a mistake. For me anyway. I think we are eternal so age really is all in the settling for a thought that one is about done with growth.. / I love one line I have taken from my Abraham work.. / You Ms. Linaji… Are Never Finished and Life Is Never Done!!
It’s all about light in the Mantra of Love.
Many Native American Medicine Society’s, in almost every tribe consisted of a society of women, or bringers of the rain that nurtures the abundance of their food sources. The Three Sisters ~ corn, beans and squash fed many tribal peoples as a regular staple when game, fish and other crops were not plentiful. The WhirlWind Buffalo Sisterhood began just before Miracle, the white buffalo calf was born in Wisconsin, on August 20, 1994. A rainbow culture promising peace among all nations and all people, stressing equality and opposing any superior race that controls or conquers other peoples. The Unity of all colors, all creeds, all beliefs, working together for the good of the whole and when all pathways to wholeness are respected by all cultures, the prophesy of the Whirling Rainbow will be completed. When the time of the White Buffalo, the third generation of White eyes children will grow their hair and speak of love as the healer of the Children of the Earth. These children will seek new ways of understanding themselves and others. They will wear feathers and beads and paint their faces. They will seek the Elders of the Red Race and drink of their wisdom. These white-eyes will be a sign that the ancestors are returning in white bodies, but they are red on the inside. They will learn to walk the Earth Mother in balance again and reform the ideas of the white chiefs. These children will be tested as they were when they were Red ancestors by unnatural substances, like firewater, to see if they can remain on the Sacred Path. After the time when the buffalo returned, the generation following the Flower Children would see the dawning of the Fifth World of Peace. Appearing to those who see, would be a Sun Dog, or full rainbow circle around the Sun that has bright white lights at the Four Directions, a rare natural phenomena. Enough of the Earth Children will be awakened to carry the responsibility of the teachings and the healing process will begin in full swing. Many will remember their “purpose” for being here on Earth and will develop their gifts to assist humanity. Truth will shatter the bonds of separation and goodness will prevail with tolerance, acceptance and understanding. The WhirlWind Buffalo Sisterhood has consistently sought knowledge that changes lies to truths, that have made us mistrust one another and replace the illusion of separation with the truth of UNITY. In non-violence and peaceful energetic, teach that a worthy opponent will present lessons to make us grow beyond any high drama and into a sense of unity within Self, to then share with others remembering that any challenges to unity are equal to our ability to overcome them. The buffalo symbolized not only the strength of the Whirlwind, but also prosperity and abundance ~ the past 15 years, since Miracles’ birth ~ the Tribe of All Nations has been gathering physically, mentally, emotionally, tribally, socially, morally and spiritually all over the world, even more so with cyber-space communications. Can you deeply, completely and profoundly accept yourself and others with all the faults, problems and limitations, as well as the gifts, strengths and ability to love? / ©tkrosevear~WindOwl Mandala sketch photographed, painted, edited and merged with Buffalo photograph in photoshop7 with final editing in redfield plug-in fractilius. They were out on the same walk She saw buildings / He saw the sky She saw shadows / He saw the shadows of birds that fly She saw a crack / He saw a crevice She saw a hole / He saw a ditch She saw the homeless / He saw the rich She saw a rock / He saw a diamond When they got home they looked into each other’s eyes, / How shall we ever agree on this life at the same time? / They said all at once / Well… / She said / We must learn to revel in our differences / Lets go against society, / Every time I see differently or you do / Lets break out the champagne and the sweet meats / Every time one sees a problem.. Lets celebrate for the other / Every time one sees a solutions lets do it again … / Celebrate / Celebrate each other..
