La Rue Obscure is the oldest street in the old town of Villefranche sur Mer on the French Riviera, between Nice and Monaco. It was built on virgin soil at the beginning of the 13th century. La Rue Obscure formed the basis of the rest of the town’s construction on the slopes rising from this coastal lane. It gave inhabitants of the town certain refuge against possible attacks. The ship captains who were forced by storms to anchor in the bay, could make necessary repairs in safety. La Rue Obscure also welcomed precious merchandise, such as wine, in its cellars.

Her older sister, Perrin, ran around behind her holding a black cloth to act as a ‘backdrop’ for me. In true 2 year old style, she decided today was the day that she would NOT smile, and as for looking at the camera… you can forget it. Keeping still was also not an option. So this is the end result of a frustrating shoot, but maybe the more interesting for it. Canon 400D, natural light, pp in photoshop CS2.

The Adelaide Eye, as we called it.. a not so giant ferris wheel, located across the road from our apartment in Glenelg, where we stayed over the weekend. I’ve always wanted to capture a ferris wheel, never had the chance to do it until this moment. Desaturated this one and added a texture from www.deviantart.com to achieve a more vintage look. Reminds me of summers gone past from my childhood. Best Viewed Larger This lovely old cabin is one of the first structures visitors see when they arrive at Old Bedford Village, a Living History Museum, in Bedford, PA. Many of the structures here are original to the general area. When their useful lives were over they were torn down and reconstructed on the site. Others are reproductions, meticulously crafted to represent their original counterparts. Image taken on October 17, 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens, uv and cp filters attached. Shutter 1/320, aperture f/9.0, exp -.33, iso 250. Post processing included some work in levels and a hint of warm filter in Photoshop.

I took this from a bus, while traveling between Madrid and Valencia, in Spain. I have no idea what this little village is called, but it was like something out of a movie. We past several of these on the 6 hour bus trip across the country. Spain has some spectacular scenery and quaint villages that almost seem trapped in time. Layered the original image twice, adjusted contrast and tone slightly. Added a texture layer from www.deviantart.com free use stock. Layered the texture several times over, adjusting the constrast, saturation and lightness on each to vary the colour and tone.
