  • Young couple in love enjoying a sunset in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountain National Park, USA. Other works in the Cades Cove Collection: About Cades Cove: Cades Cove (formally known as Tuckaleechee Cove) is found in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, USA. Cades Cove / was a working farm valley until the 1930’s when the National Park was formed. The Park Service has attempted to recreate the 19th century feel of this farming valley and preserve it for future generations. Before the first white settler arrived on the scene, Cades Cove had been a part of the Cherokee Indians’ domain. Abrams Creek and Abrams Falls are features named for a prominent Cherokee chief named “Old Abram” who at one time lived in a village at Chilhowee on the Little Tennessee River. According to tradition, Old Abram’s wife was named Kate, and Cades (Kate’s) Cove was named after her. Please enjoy these other images:

Actually, who are you not to be? / You are a child of God. / Your playing small does not serve the world. / There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. / We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. / It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. / And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. / As we are liberated from our own fear, / our presence automatically liberates others.” by Marrianne Williamson ~ excerpts from Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles. • Equipment used: / Nikon D70s / Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC / B&W 62mm Circular Polarisation Location: / Peyto Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada Map: / Road Map , Terrain , Satellite Copyright: / © Brendan Schoon , All rights reserved. Background Information: / Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake located in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. The lake itself is easily accessed from the Icefields Parkway. It was named for Ebenezer William Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area. The lake is formed in a valley of the Waputik Range, between Caldron Peak, Peyto Peak and Mount Jimmy Simpson, at an elevation of 1,860 m (6,100 ft). During the summer, significant amounts of glacial rock flour flow into the lake, and these suspended rock particles give the lake a bright, turquoise color. Because of its bright color, photos of the lake often appear in illustrated books, and area around the lake is a popular sightseeing spot for tourists in the park. The lake is best seen from Bow Summit, the highest point on the Icefield Parkway. The lake is fed by the Peyto Creek, which drains water from the Caldron Lake and Peyto Glacier (part of the Wapta Icefield), and flows into the Mistaya River. • Storm clouds rolling in over the hills at sunset in Arizona. / Shot with Canon 20D.

  • What is it about trains? Something about them is so romantic, you see scenes you normally wouldnt see riding in a car. Maybe it’s the sound of the locomotive, the rocking of the car you’re in, the overall atmosphere. / This was shot in West Viriginia, I insisted on doing at least one train ride, especially when this particular one was just 2minutes from where my friend lives. Quite a challenge hanging over in the open car we were in trying to get just that right angle with the right light. The colors were spectacular while I was in WV. Shot this in SS mode with SS set at 1/500 (had to compensate for moving and me hand holding) / F-stop at F 5.6, / ISO at 400, / focal length at 70mm, / and exposure compensation at 0
