The Devi’ls Portal is one of my favorite of this series of collages. I recreate gardens, and landscapes, all of them are created with paper cut-outs from various magazines I purchase. I cut sections of flowers, trees, brick pavers, or larger sections of gardens and compose my own. Utilizing an acid free foam board, I paste the largest images first, and then I build my garden by gluing all the cutouts in layers. The images were selected on basis of color gamut, proportion, shape, and light direction. It takes me a long time to select the images because I want to give a sense of depth and keep the light direction and proportion very close to what reality looks like. I utilize x-acto knives, acid free glues, scissors, foam board, and my imagination. All the landscapes have the same height 10.5” but different lengths mostly 32” long up to 54” long.
