Cartagena is a vibrant city, pulsating with Caribbean rhythms, music and flavours that can be enjoyed at any time of the day. Its white sandy beaches and its warm, crystal-clear water and palm trees are only some of its attractions. Popular beaches include El Laguito and Bocagrande, where there are modern hotels, restaurants, cafes, soft drink stalls and traditional regional fruit. Cartagena was the most important port in the Spanish empire. Cartagena invites visitors for an evening stroll along its main streets to sample its numerous restaurants and bars and experience diverse cultural events that are available throughout Cartagena and, in particular, in the old walled city. Cartagena is the most popular tourist destination both for Colombians and for overseas visitors.

Simmondsia vitra is closely related to the Jojoba shrub (Simmondsia chinensis), pronounced “ho-HO-bah”. Jojoba is native to the Sonoran and Mojave deserts of Arizona, California, and Mexico. Simmondsia vitra however is primarily found in arid urban environments and produces an extremely toxic, oily substance.
