  • Or maybe just show off!! This is my hubby ‘trying’ his best to do a hand stand at the beach a few days ago! Probably not one of my ‘artistic best’ but nevertheless fun! Enjoy :o)

  • Canon 1Ds MKIII / 70-200mm L HDR image from 3 different exposures. Sold as Matted Print to an unknown RB buyer, thank you!

  • An evening Seattle street scene in autumn. Pretty much out of the camera. Canon D60

  • This is a photo of my wife’s silouette taken during our last vacation (road trip) in the US which in this case is in Death Valley. We had just arrived at the first view point to enjoy a pretty spectaculor view and my wife sat down on the beach and well, there you have it. /

  • This skyscape has always inspired me, since I sighted it. This one was difficult too, as correct balance of colors was difficult due to vividity. The setting Sun hidden behind the clouds and the evening is on the door steps, giving a wide range of availability to work on again. Most of the times we used to get biased with the earlier impression of the form as the BEST & coming out of the blues becomes very difficult. I took almost 2 months to come out of it. ( Reposted 25.03.2009 ) Hope everyone will enjoy! Equipment : Canon EOS 400D

  • Storm clouds rolling in over the hills at sunset in Arizona. / Shot with Canon 20D.

  • It is not how it looked in the viewfinder but it is how I wanted it to look in the end. The process of creating photographs is one with endless possibilities between the accurate recordings and significant transformations through camera settings and post processing steps. There is no "right" way to do all this and all options are available – at least for the open minded. So we choose the shutter speed, set the aperture, widen the angle or zoom in, highlight some elements, darken others, sharpen somethings, blur others, saturate and de-saturate, blend and hide,... all which change and transform the raw photo into something interesting for the eye – at times even visual art. Here I tried to create a piece of work that resembled the reality but also transcended into new visual dimensions which could not be seen by the human eye on location – merely in my mind. The long exposure and various post processing steps made this possible. The raw material was captured on Havskåren, a tiny island in the Oslofjord by the Nøtterøy archipelago. I posted this because I liked how the composition turned out. I also love the colors – muted yet warm and inviting. Earth colors. I hope you enjoy this work as much as I enjoyed creating it.

  • Camera Details: / Nikon D70s , Sigma 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC Location: / Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, The Netherlands Map: / Road Map , Terrain , Satellite Copyright: / © Brendan Schoon , All rights reserved. Background Information: / The Erasmusbrug (“Erasmus Bridge”) is a cable stayed bridge across the Nieuwe Maas river, linking the northern and southern halves of the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands. / The Erasmusbrug was designed by Ben van Berkel and completed in 1996. The 808 metre long bridge has a 139 metre-high asymmetrical pylon, earning the bridge its nickname of “The Swan”. The southern span of the bridge has a 89 metre long bascule bridge for ships that cannot pass under the bridge. The bascule bridge is the largest and heaviest in West Europe and has the largest panel of its type in the world. The bridge was officially opened by Queen Beatrix on September 6, 1996, having cost 165 million Dutch guilders (about 75 million euros) to construct. Shortly after the bridge opened to traffic in October 1996, it was discovered the bridge would swing under particularly strong wind conditions. To reduce the trembling, stronger shock dampers were installed. The bridge was featured in the 1998 Jackie Chan film Who Am I? In 2005 several planes flew underneath the bridge as part of the “Red Bull Air Race”. In 2005, the bridge served as the backdrop for a performance by Dj Tiësto titled “Tiësto @ The Bridge, Rotterdam”. The performance featured fire fighting ships spraying jets of water into the air in front of the bridge, a fireworks barge launching fireworks beside the bridge, and multi colored spot/search lights attached to the bridge itself. • We never thought this day would come, / But it’s finally here at last, What once was our bright future, / Is now are dim-lit past, But we hold onto the memories, / The lessons that we learned, The pathways we have traveled down, / The corners that we turned, And soon we say our sad goodbyes, / That will last us forever, We may see each other again, / Maybe once or maybe never, So make your goodbyes ones to remember, / The kind that will stay in their heads, Those are the goodbyes they will treasure, / The ones that were sad to be said.

  • With all the bazillions of sunset images.. I still find myself trying to capture the beauty of each new one I see. To me they are romantic, calming and one of natures finest works of art. This one I took in Mexico somewhere along the west coast. Pulled off the road and sat awhile to admire & dream as the sun melted into the sea. Nikon D60 55/200 / Mexico 2009

  • Rota Island – August 2009 / straight out of the camera / Life on this island is friendly and unhurried and the hospitality is as unforgettable as the magical sunsets. Rota Island is a natural playground with around 3000 inhabitants and is known by many to be Micronesia’s best-kept secret / Rota (Chamoru: Luta) also known as the “peaceful island”, is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and the second southernmost of the Marianas Archipelago. It lies approximately 40 miles north-northeast of the United States territory of Guam. Songsong village is the largest and most populated followed by Sinapalo village (Sinapalu). In 1521, the first European to see Rota, was the lookout on Magellan’s ship Victoria, Lope Navarro. However, Magellan’s Armada of three ships didn’t stop until they reached Guam, so the first European to arrive in Rota (in 1524), was Spanish navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano, who annexed it together with the rest of the Marianas Archipelago on behalf of the Crown of Spain.
