I purchased a laminated print of this piece, and I have to tell you, the high gloss print just makes this one pop! It is so smooth and fluid. My only complaint is that everyone (with the exception of one of my neices) first comment is, “What is it?” Heck, when it first came, my husband said “What is it?” I said “An abstract” he said ”..so what is it..” We went back and forth a minute, then he finally gave me this odd look and said “People actually like this stuff?” LOL I’ve had people ask if it’s an ear, a dog’s dew claw, paint swirls, etc. I keep saying, it’s just a digitally rendered image, it’s nothing. I finally gave up and started say If that’s what you think it is, then it is. Personally, to me, it reminds me of blood cells flowing. LOL Like I said, it’s whatever you think it is! Created in Apophysis 3D hack This piece was featured in the Digital Abstracts and Patterns group, the Abstract Art group, and the main Art page. Thank You! More Fractals by Karri Klawiter “

Taken in the bush near Alice Springs. Waiting for the sun to come up and saw this dead tree and just had to take a shot with all the colours behind it.

I have produced hundreds of scribbles, sketches, drawings, cartoons and paintings over the years, yet when someone asks me how I come up with ideas for work I tell them I’m really not sure. A truly original idea for a piece of art is always a gift from somewhere else, and you just hope and pray it might happen again. I have thought about this subject a lot, about where inspiration or stream of consciousness comes from. The result was a large oil painting titled “Waiting for Inspiration”. It portrays a painter sitting on the floor of his studio adjacent to a large blank canvas propped up against the wall. A dirt road runs through the middle of the room, past the canvas and off into the distance. / The painter I guess is me, waiting to thumb that lift, to take that ride, to catch that inspiration.. before it passes through. / - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - - - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – /

I had just returned from a trip to New York where I visited every major art gallery in Soho. To say that I was very inspired is an understatement. I recommend the experience to any artist given the opportunity. Anyway, while I was there I stayed on the top floor of the Hilton overlooking Ground Zero of 911. Sitting in my room watching the sun come up, I couldn’t help but think about the contrast between the natural beauty of the sun coming up and the devastation below me. I wondered about how complicated our modern lives had become and what it would be like to have lived in the past and simply enjoy the beauty of a sunrise without the noise of traffic, cell phones, etc. Egyptian Sunrise is the place my imagination took me. Looking out my window as the city begins to wake I gaze over the beautiful pyramids as the sun comes up, one thing remains true; the sun will rise again tomorrow. How beautifully uncomplicated is that? Painted across three canvases, I mixed two confluent designs of curves and straight lines. I painted this using acrylic, latex and chalk.
