1st place in the Altered by Design Group – Apples Challenge. / / Does life have a purpose? Does it have real meaning? Is life anything more than a brief span on earth, with nothing but eternity on either side of this physical existence? What Is Your Destiny? This is the question of the ages, a riddle that has challenged human beings since they came to be. Why am I here? Why do I exist? Under the sight of the planets, life continues on the wheel of evolution. Round and round… From the cells of this seed head, shall fall the next sacred water lily seeds that will sink into the muck far below and struggle to grow until they return to the light. ~~~~~~~~~~~ This image was FEATURED in group” The Fine Art of Photography” during the month of July to August 2008. / ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Image has been viewed 350+ times. I would like to thank Richie Fox for nominating this piece for the ‘Pay it Forward’ group here on RB. You can see his awesome art here -> http://www.redbubble.com/people/richman Here’s what he had to say about ‘Moon Fire:’ “I love this art because not everyone is doing it, its abit more specalized. Its close-up, macro shot and there is a talent in being able to see art, so very small, where other folk cant even see whats in front of them. This piece is a macro landscape from a bin/ dumpster and its brilliant. dark blue skies, bright sun and what could be seen as a bright red crop or a fire. colours and contrast work very well in the abstract. To have the vision and creativity to stick your head in a dirty bin and get close up looking for mini master pieces made from dirt, bumps, scratches and rusting metal surley does deserve a mention.” Richie – I’m flattered. Thanks for the nomination. This is a macro image taken from a dumpster in Boulder, Colorado. It has been edited for contrast and embellished to enhance the ‘landscapeness.’ The image is actually upside down… I think. I take so many of these that they all start to blur together. Reminds me of a Colorado Forest fire that I witnessed on a far away mountain.

This art work was inspired by a wonderful friend and wonderful artist, Kym Breeze. Kym once asked if you could describe your life as a song what would it be. The song “Better Days” by the Goo Goo Dolls always comes to mind for me. Thank you for the inspiration Kym, and may we all find better days. :-) Visit Kym’s Gallery: Kym Breeze / ____________ Better Days Video ______________________ BETTER DAYS And you ask me what I want this year / And I try to make this kind and clear / Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days / Cuz I don’t need boxes wrapped in strings / And desire and love and empty things / Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days So take these words / And sing out loud / Cuz everyone is forgiven now / Cuz tonight’s the night the world begins again And it’s someplace simple where we can live / And something only you can give / And thats faith and trust and peace while we’re alive / And the one poor child who saved this world / And there’s 10 million more who probably could / If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them So take these words / And sing out loud / Cuz everyone is forgiven now / Cuz tonight’s the night the world begins again I wish everyone was loved tonight / And somehow stop this endless fight / Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days So take these words / And sing out loud / Cuz everyone is forgiven now / Cuz tonight’s the night the world begins again / Cuz tonight’s the night the world begins again GOO GOO DOLLS / © Dave Moilanen 2008

I just uploaded this new scan from my work!! I just completed this mixed media piece. The image size is 14×18 inches. I used archival ink and derwent graphitint watercolor pencils. This is drawn on illustration board and took many hours. I completed the border over a year ago and could not decide what I wanted to put in the middle. I was originally going to call this drawing “If I Could Help Design An Antelope” but as I finished it I decided that it had an old world feeling to it and the name “Paradise” seemed to fit. Any proceeds from the sale of prints and cards from RB will be donated to The Philadelphis Mission. You may view their contact info. on my front page. Thanks for looking!!
