  • This awesome foggy winter sunset was photographed on December 2006. Just as the last sun of the day goes down, the light becomes intense, and I had to move fast to capture it. I was struggling to find something decent to stick in the foreground to help to add a bit of depth so I had to settle for this old wire fence, but I think it worked out ok! An hard image to shoot, but during shooting it I was so overwhelmed by this scene and it’s extreme beauty. I loved the way the fog was picking up all the warm colours. It was a brilliant moment but really cold with frost, mist and lingering snow. Canon 350 D 17-40 mm lens. / 5000+ views

  • Canon Powershot with IR filter “As Is” / Brandywine Falls Ohio / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / I have been waiting for this kind of shot for a long time. The storms were fierce with a ton of rain last night. I decided to take of work and spend the day at the falls near my house. I must have snapped 200 pictures today. What a great day!! I found a new toy its my infrared lens. Of course I have many different shots just like this :-) I posted a photo in color as well at a different time called – Approaching / Autumn / ....................................................................................................................... / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Click to View By Category: / -—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / - Waterfall Photos / - Selective Coloring / - Infrared Photos / - Black and White Photos / - Animal Photos / - Downtown Cleveland ............................................................................................................... / ................................................................................................................ /

  • © Claire McAdams / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED For less expensive high quality prints of this photo, click here This is a lake near where I lived in ny over the summer. This is a self portrait I did for a challenge on another site. It ended up winning second place and getting my highest score so far :-) It was really difficult to shoot. I was REALLY lucky to get this when the sun was showing because tihs took about 30-45 minutes of experimenting with how to light it and how to compose it before I got my 8 minute window between when the sun came out from behind the clouds and went behind the trees. It was REALLY difficult to get it so where my head was bellow the reflection of the mountain in the water so that i would have the orange hallow around my head….I actually had to balance my tripod on three round rocks to get my camera high enough to get it positioned that way. (this is a self portrait) Then I would CAREFULLY set the timer on the camera so as not to knock my camera into the water….really nerve wracking…and then run to the rock and pose myself. I basically had 5 tries at this and was really lucky to get it. I feel like my outfit doesn’t match the surroundings but I couldn’t think of a color to change it to to make it match. Oh well. I still really like this photo, and its nice to finally do a self portrait again.

  • Featured in “Landscape Photography” Moraine Lake, Alberta, Canada I knew going that I wanted a shot dramatically different then the standard “Moraine Lake” photo that everyone has. I took this photo in the early spring of this year, before the lake had reached it’s normal levels. Didn’t realize it at the time but I was very lucky to have gotten this shot as I came back 3 days later and the rock had already been completely submerged. Woke up at 2am and drove 2 and half hours in the dark and then slept at the lake for about 30 mins before going out to take pictures. Spent almost 4 hours walking the shores trying different shots. I was about to go home when i spotted this rock, I knew I had finally found the shot I wanted. Cheers
