Shot at Red Rocks State Park outside of Denver…..something about this just caught me eye, the composition and the textures….the stark reality of winter, and the natural saturation itself. Hope ya all like it!
Always lead me to Rocky Mountain National Park it seems…..overlooking the Mummy Range…gotta love that late afternoon lighting! So warm…..especially in Autumn! Thoughts welcomed Minolta 5D / Minolta 28mm 2.8 lens (this is the first time I have seen my cam report adjusted crop focal length in the EXIF….wild) / Hoya CPL / 3 Shot HDR from RAW final, processed in Lightroom and PS —-—-—-—-—-—-—— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky. I was also lucky enough to capture the distant clouds as they were building for afternoon thunderstorms, later that day….spose you can say I like the sense of drama that they add to the image overall. / HDR processed, thoughts most welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. A HDR image of Lake Dillon, CO from the East side at sunset. It had snowed all the week before and the lake was iced over, reflecting the sunset beautifully.

A Stormy Autumn Colorado’s Longs Peak shrouded in Autumn thunderstorm clouds, stands towering above the quaking Aspen below. This scene was really something to see….the atmosphere was just to die for. The way the contrast played out with the yellow and gold Aspens against that dark sky was astonishing, the light was really changing fast so I had to be fairly quick while shooting this. Processed in HDR, let me know what ya all think! / —-John
Autumn Travels Shot in Alluvial Fan area of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado What a scene that just glowed…and I mean GLOWED. It made your jaw just drop open. I am fortunate in that no one else was there, and was lucky to be able to take about 100 shots of this scene alone, playing with composition and such, and custom white balance settings, and in this one, something similar to a sunset setting was used. Let me know what ya think! Can ya hear the rustling of the leaves?? / —-John
The Aspen Stand This shot got some really good feedback over on FredMiranda.com so I thought that I would go ahead and share it with you all here as well. Photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park, this is the type of Fall Aspen shot I have wanted, but for some reason, whenever I have shot these kinds of shots in the past, they just never really have come out. Well, I think it did this time. It is almost to much of an iconic Colorado in Autumn photo, but I think one thing makes this one stand out from others. The lines. If you notice the black areas of the bark on the Aspen, that is actually where the Elk have eaten away at the bark. However, I like how it creates the line from left to right, going up higher as it goes to the right. I didn’t even notice this until I was processing the shot, and I suppose you can blame that on negative space. I suppose you can say that I am happy with the shot, I finally got the Autumn image I have always wanted. For those of you who don’t know how beautiful the Colorado Aspen’s are in Autumn, just ask Judy, she will be glad to tell ya! Let me know what ya think! / —-John
This image was captured right after sunrise from Hopi Point in the magnificent Grand Canyon. The colors that morning were simply astounding. This is an old photo from where Chris and I used to camp in Colorado. Twin Peaks campground is located on Independence Pass at around 10,000 ft elevation. (located on the Leadville side of the pass). The peaks themselves are close to 13,000 feet. his photo was taken with one of Sony’s first digital cameras …. about 9 or 10 years ago…. It was a beautiful place to camp. We would camp there all summer long. “Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.” / —John Muir / Quote found by Billfox256 FEATURED in the A Place to Call Home group / Most Popular / My Favorites / Dahlias / Cards and Collages / Calendars / T-Shirts Please visit my bubblesite. Taken near Telluride, Colorado. A country road led me to this hillside that had a row of Aspen trees glowing with their golden leaves. A small lone cloud appeared almost as if to dot the “i”. /
