  • Seeing a big Bull Elk throw back his massive head and let out his piercing bugling sound is truly one of the miracles of the Rocky Mountain Autumn Season…I still get chills when I am blessed with this amazing experience.

  • Also available in black and white too! /

  • A Stormy Autumn Colorado’s Longs Peak shrouded in Autumn thunderstorm clouds, stands towering above the quaking Aspen below. This scene was really something to see….the atmosphere was just to die for. The way the contrast played out with the yellow and gold Aspens against that dark sky was astonishing, the light was really changing fast so I had to be fairly quick while shooting this. Processed in HDR, let me know what ya all think! / —-John

  • Autumn Travels Shot in Alluvial Fan area of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado What a scene that just glowed…and I mean GLOWED. It made your jaw just drop open. I am fortunate in that no one else was there, and was lucky to be able to take about 100 shots of this scene alone, playing with composition and such, and custom white balance settings, and in this one, something similar to a sunset setting was used. Let me know what ya think! Can ya hear the rustling of the leaves?? / —-John

  • The Aspen Stand This shot got some really good feedback over on FredMiranda.com so I thought that I would go ahead and share it with you all here as well. Photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park, this is the type of Fall Aspen shot I have wanted, but for some reason, whenever I have shot these kinds of shots in the past, they just never really have come out. Well, I think it did this time. It is almost to much of an iconic Colorado in Autumn photo, but I think one thing makes this one stand out from others. The lines. If you notice the black areas of the bark on the Aspen, that is actually where the Elk have eaten away at the bark. However, I like how it creates the line from left to right, going up higher as it goes to the right. I didn’t even notice this until I was processing the shot, and I suppose you can blame that on negative space. I suppose you can say that I am happy with the shot, I finally got the Autumn image I have always wanted. For those of you who don’t know how beautiful the Colorado Aspen’s are in Autumn, just ask Judy, she will be glad to tell ya! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

  • Pueblo Colorado

  • Just something different! HDR processed and then played around a bit in LR. I kind of like it…I need some flowers. My mind is growing very dark these days!!! / Thoughts??? Wait maybe I don’t want to know!!! HAHA!

  • Living high in the Colorado Rockies was magical. On occasion, it was also heck of a lot of work. This snow is the one that drove us to move down from 7700 feet. This is our seasonal neighbor’s cabin. We were farther down the lane. It took me a week with a big two-stage snow blower to clear a blower wide path from the house to the street. That was the single largest storm we experienced in 12 years in the Poudre Canyon west of Fort Collins. As winter approaches, I can’t say I’m sorry to be living in Arizona. 278 views Taken with Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ12 with layers of white with a touch of texture underneath to reduce pixelation. • I always wanted a “classic” kind of Elk shot, where one can see the steam coming out of their nose and mouth after the Bugle, with snow falling and such, and I think I finally was able to get it ! He gave us a lot of good shots, I will say that! Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado Minolta 5D & Tamron 200-400mm lens

  • We had a very bad rain and windstorm last night, a lot of thunder & lightning that woke me up from a sound sleep. This morning our deck was covered in Aspen leaves and this is one of them. : ) / Added a touch of HDR, Softened a bit and focal color. / Kodak Z650 EasyShare Digital / / /
