Background Information: / The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River in the U.S. state of Arizona, and parts of Nevada. It is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park — one of the first national parks in the United States. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery. Longstanding scientific consensus has been that the canyon was created by the Colorado River over a period of six million years, but research released in 2008 suggests a much longer 17 million year time span. The canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 km) and attains a depth of more than a mile (1.6 km). Background Information: / Monument Valley is located on the southern border of Utah with northern Arizona (around 36°59′N, 110°6′W). The valley lies within the range of the Navajo Nation Reservation, and is accessible from U.S. Highway 163. The Navajo name for the valley is Tsé Bii’ Ndzisgaii (Valley of the Rocks). / The area is part of the Colorado Plateau. The floor is largely Cutler Red siltstone or its sand deposited by the meandering rivers that carved the valley. The valley’s vivid red color comes from iron oxide exposed in the weathered siltstone. The darker, blue-gray rocks in the valley get their color from manganese oxide. / Monument Valley has been featured in many forms of media since the 1930s. The Utah Prairie Dog is the smallest species of prairie dog, a member of the squirrel family of rodents native to the south central steppes of the US state of Utah. Like all prairie dogs, the Utah Prairie Dog is an active forager, eating a wide array of vegetation including grasses, flowers, and seeds. They build extensive “towns” of underground tunnels and chambers, each town composed of a population of members of an extended prairie dog family. This was taken at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. This is probably the most different photo I have submitted in a long time. I spend most of my photographing time in the mountains 300 miles from my home. I live less than an hour from L.A. but I rarely venture there. There was an art festival going on and it sounded fun so I went.

Husky …... The Siberian Husky is a medium-size, dense-coat working dog breed that originated in eastern Siberia. The breed belongs to the Spitz genetic family. It is recognizable by its thickly-furred double coat, sickle tail, erect triangular ears and distinctive markings. Huskies are an active, energetic and resilient breed whose ancestors came from the extremely cold and harsh environment of the Siberian Arctic and were bred by the Chukchi of Northeastern Asia, it was imported into Alaska during the Nome Gold Rush and spread from there into the United States and, initially as a sled dog. It rapidly acquired the status of a family pet and a show-dog. Eyes: A “copper”-coloured Siberian Husky with heterochromia, a trait which is unusual in most dogs, but not uncommon among Siberian Huskies. The eyes of a Siberian Husky are dark blue, light blue, amber or brown. In some individual dogs, one eye may be brown and the other blue or one or both eyes may be “parti-colored,” that is, half brown and half blue. All of these eye color combinations are considered to be acceptable by the American Kennel Club, which also states that the eyes are “an almond shape, moderately spaced and set slightly obliquely.”
