  • Acrylic on canvas / 500mm x 500mm x 35mm / Inspired by Gustav Klimt. / Original: SOLD

  • The abduction of Persephone “Far from Demeter and Zeus, she was playing with the deep-bosomed daughters of Oceanus and gathering flowers over a soft meadow, roses and crocuses and beautiful violets, irises also and hyacinths and the narcissus which Earth made to grow at the will of Zeus, to be a trap for the bloom-like girl—a marvelous, radiant flower. The meadow was a thing of awe to see: from its root grew a hundred blooms and it smelled most sweetly, so that all wide heaven above and the whole earth and the sea’s salt swell laughed for joy. And the girl was amazed and reached out with both hands; but the wide-pathed earth yawned, and Hades sprang out upon her. He caught her up reluctant on his golden chariot and bore her away lamenting,to the underworld forever more.” * / 8 days of countless hours, trashing it and starting over and over and over till I got this. I think I am happy now! !0.redbubble.com/img/art/border:blackwithdetail/product

  • YOU FILL ME UP You fill me up when I am empty, / Like no one else has done; / Pour warmth into my spirit, / Like rays from summer sun. You’ve placed a seed within me, / That has grown into a vine; / Of sheer unbridled passion, / Tendrils curled and intertwined. You fill me up when I am empty, / Like an overflowing cup; / No one else has ever filled me so, / Yet my Love, you fill me up. Allison Chambers Coxsey

Inspired by poetry: What was he saying and to whom / by Alan Michael Parker What was he saying and to whom? / With a silver thermos he left the building; / He paused in the courtyard and turned. / What was he saying and to whom? The building at dawn not yet a building / Paused the way all buildings do. / What was he saying and to whom? Time doesn’t stop; time doesn’t wait; / Time has never moved. / What was he saying and to whom? If the dog had been sleeping / She would not have awakened, / So small was the moment to lose. / What was he saying and to whom? What was he saying and to whom? / The courtyard at dawn was the same / As the sky, the sky swept clean by the moon. / What was he saying and to whom? Good morning, good-bye, I love you, I’ll try. / What was he saying and to whom? Model my fave! Music-Jim Croce

  • Acrylic and oil on canvas

  • Acrylic on stretched canvas 10 inch x 10 inch Original SOLD I was painting this yesterday when there was snow falling outside. Guess I wanted to think about summer and warmth. This has a very British seaside feel to it. I remember trips to the seaside when I was a child. Metal painted buckets with jolly seaside scenes on them, metal spades with wooden dowel handles…packets of paper flags to pop into those sandcastles. Why did the egg sandwiches always get sand in them? / Anyway this lady here seems to have quite a bit of her own buoyancy.

  • First artwork in a new series I am working on inspired by the book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. In this iconic image, a beautiful but dangerous Queen of Hearts as femme fatale draws her finger across her throat to signify her threatening intentions. “The Queen had only one way of settling all difficulties, great or small. ‘Off with his head!’ she said, without even looking round.” / -Lewis Carroll, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland “ Original artwork measures 19×25 inches, mixed media on gray Strathmore watercolor paper. This artwork took about twelve hours to complete over a two-day period. View more of my artwork at http://www.lynnetteshelley.com
