I visited a psychedelic cactus garden on a midnight walk to my great surprise and delight to be swept away into this otherworldly oasis. The vibrant colors create a sense of being immersed in color and a magical wonderland. Unlike Alice, I did not have to fall through a hole. My imagination was my ticket to this enchanted garden. I often associate to songs when I look at my work. I hear lyrics playing in my head. Here are the lyrics I am listening to, the song Midnight at the Oasis sung by Maria Muldaur, a 60’s icon. I was surprised to learn that the lyrics contain a reference to a cactus garden. A psychedelic experience is characterized by the perception of aspects of one’s mind previously unknown, or by the creative exuberance of the mind liberated from its ostensibly ordinary fetters. Psychedelic states are an array of experiences elicited by sensory deprivation as well as by psychedelic substances. I have to give credit to my DD for drawing the mouth for this piece. (She is 10 years old) I was having issues with it, she came into my studio, and asked if she could do it for me. God bless her sweet little heart. I left it just as it was! :) Abstract painting created using several photographic layers, added textures, Photoshop, Painter X and a Wacom tablet.
