Land Of Pharaohs Kebab-Shop, run by Romani from Egypt and his Dutch wife Inge. Their succesfull business was approached by ‘Getaway’ Holiday and Travel program and they will be featured from September 2008. The busy couple designed and decorated this beautifull shop themselves and Romani made all the wooden furniture and some tables, which are made out of recycled teak and jarrah even have chessboards in them, so it’s great to have a game of chess and while you listen to the ‘lounge’ music you should try their ‘fresh’ kebabs, the beef&lamb souflakis are great and very affordable. And the vegetarian falafels are the best!! Super good coffee for the coffeelovers and browse through this shop . you will find ornaments, artifacts and beautifull handmade lamps, inge has her art work mainly photos enlarged on big canvas and even on postcards, and ‘everything’ is for sale! This is kind of an older piece (back from when I was in college). Believe it or not, until I started digging through old stuff and posting it here on Redbubble I never realized just how often I painted kids running away from monsters, aliens, and other scary things. I think I might seriously be in need of therapy.

Beyond the Great Hall through hidden door was a small room with this tiling on one wall. The remaining walls were painted the same red as the tile. When I say small I really mean small too. It’s height no higher than a tall human reaching up. More like a closet in size. I hid in this room along with Yarelis to hide from the Goblins. There was nary one torch to light the room but the the Portal glowed blood red in the dark. There was magic indeed in it and we were soon to find out just what kind of magic it was. Fractal work done in GnoFractal with extensive PaintShopPro and Gimp postwork. Best viewed large. GNF-PNC3-09-5-090512-31

Lithuania, Klaipeda region, Curonian spit / THIS SERIES FROM / August 14-16, 2009 : morning/day/evening/night CLICK FOR COMMENTS ! The Curonian Lagoon (or Bay, Gulf; Russian: Kуршский залив, Lithuanian: Kuršių Marios, Polish: Zalew Kuroński, German: Kurisches Haff) is separated from the Baltic Sea by the Curonian Spit. / In the 13th century, the area around the lagoon was part of the ancestral lands of the Curonians and Old Prussian people. Later it bordered the historical region of Lithuania Minor. At the northern end of the Spit, there is a passage to the Baltic Sea, and the place was chosen by the Teutonic Knights in 1252 to found Memelburg castle and the city of Memel. The town is officially called Klaipėda since 1923 when the Memel Territory was separated from the German Empire. / As the new Interwar border, the river that flows into the Curonian Lagoon near Rusnė (German: Ruß) was chosen. The river’s lower 120km in Germany were called die Memel by Germans, while the upper part located in Lithuania was known as Nemunas River. The border also separated the peninsula near the small holiday resort of Nida, Lithuania (German: Nidden); the southern part of the Spit and the Lagoon remained in Germany until 1945. / This border remains today, as after World War II, the southern end of the Spit and the German area south of the river, the part of East Prussia with the town Königsberg located in Sambia, became part an exclave of Russia called Kaliningrad Oblast.
