  • When I visited the Perito Moreno Glacier in December 2005 it has collided with a piece of land and there seemed to be a struggle for dominance that im sure the glacier would have won in the passage of time. Location: Patagonia, (Argentinan side). South America. / Nikon D70

  • There had been talk over the radio’s for days about a rogue moon entering our system, but there are always those kind of rumors floating around. / We came to the surface after a week in the mine, there are a number of small mines in the Faraway Astroid Belt. / We were heading home to Earthly for a little R&R. / We stepped out of the shaft lift and it dominated the whole of space, not a rumor, the rogue had arrived. In its path was our home world, nothing could stop the total destruction that would wipe our planet and its moons from space. / Our hearts went out to our families and the millions of beings in the rogue’s path. / All we could do was watch its passing on its journey of destruction.

  • Featured In: / -Amateur Photographers’ Association This was a cold and grey winter day when I was down at the lakeshore. There were a plethora of gulls looking for a handout and becoming quite frantic for the breadcrusts I was throwing. They’re such comical creatures and so much fun to try and photograph. These two were a very determined pair! HollyCawfieldPhotography

  • I was on my way to photograph the other twin planet when out of nowhere came this gigantic comet heading right into it! I captured this shot and altered my course as fast as I could, and warped out of the galaxy. /

  • Original Acrylic on canvas this to me is not a reflection or expression of the present, but is a painting that has come to reflect a moment from my past. as my addiction was beyond out of control i was at a crossroads several times, over several years, where i wanted change, for drug abuse to end, to live a better life … the only thing stopping me time and time again was the confrontation with facing a reality that had built up to being much worse than it ever really was. Made much worse from constantly escaping through drugs. When i finally had enough, embracing and facing my damaged mind, spirit, my nerves were a wreck …. my reality of everything that was and wasn’t … finally crashed … broken from this collision …. there was nothing left …. only what i thought to be an impossible future …. six years later …. although I’m grateful for the experience and all that it taught … I’m glad I’ll never go thru it again

  • A brick archway above a door at Saint Nicholas Church, Carrickfergus. Some confusion exists as to the exact date and foundation of the Church. It was almost certainly built by John De Courcy, a well known builder of Churches and Abbeys, who founded Carrickfergus in 1182. . The confusion arises because of the existence of two Abbeys in the area. Saint Mary’s Abbey, Goodburn (or Woodburn), was founded by John De Courcy for the Premonstratensian Order of monks, the White Canons. The building was dedicated to the Holy Cross. The other monastery was for the Franciscans or Grey Friars, founded probably by De Lacy, Earl of Ulster in 1232. It stood in the Joymount area of the town. The problem is: to which monastery was Saint Nicholas’ Church attached? The Church looked very different then than now in several ways. The Chancel is much longer than it was originally, having been built by Robert le Mercer in 1305-6. The roof was lower. The floor is at present about three feet higher than originally, due to various roof collapses and the burning of the Church. Originally the body of the Church was much wider. The massive Norman arches opened out on both sides of the nave, revealing side aisles. Sir Thomas Drew, the Architect, in his report dated 1872, says: “opposite the two east ward arches on each side would appear to have been lateral chapels, two on the south and two on the north, which occupied very nearly the area of the present transepts.” The position of these chapels would have been about the east walls of the present Church. These all disappeared in the reconstruction carried out for Sir Arthur Chichester by one Thomas Paps in 1614. The Norman pillars were encased in the present walls and did not come to light until 1907 when they were uncovered. The visitor to the Church will be surprised to see the crooked aisle. This “skew,” as it has been called, was not due to an architectural mistake, but was done deliberately. It was said that when our Lord died upon the Cross His head fell to the right. The present Church with its cruciform shape symbolizes this in the crookedness of the aisle. The only other example of this in Ulster is that of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Armagh. • I’ve been trying for ages to get two drops to collide as they are dropped into a bowl. Finally I have achieved it. Up to now I’ve had trouble with focus and sharpness. I’ve finally solved those problems, although I need more light to avoid underexposure. Looks like I’m in the market for a decent studio light!!! :) This image was made by dropping pink coloured milk into blue milky water. Canon EOS 40D. 90mm Macro lens.

  • collision course… / IMPACT!!! / cataclysmic force!! / reverberations of a sound / that echoes silently / though the vacuum of space A Sterling2 fractal

  • This is pink milk being dropped into a bowl of blue water. If you get the drops to fall fast enough they sometimes collide in mid air as this one has. This is my best drop shot yet. I think I’ve finally got the technique sorted. Yay!! The colours are as you see. The only photoshop involved is slight cropping and cloning out the spots from the lens filter being splashed in the process. I get so engrossed in taking the shots I keep forgetting to clean the lens. Lucky I use a filter for protection. Canon EOS 40D. 90mm Macro lens. Lighting is a camera mounted Speedlight bounced off a white background. Power set to 1/16th. F29; 1/250th sec; ISO 100. Manual mode. Tripod mounted.

  • I had to work up the courage to post this. It took me three days to create: 5 fractals, 3 photo images, and 2 digital paintings all layered. If it were made of real paint, I’d be drenched and this room I’m in would look like the color wheel blew up. Last night I loved the piece too much; this morning I changed it and I love it “enough.” / I’m discovering that loving an image too much means that I can’t see it for what it is…..and isn’t. I can’t assess its completeness or its direction or its readiness to face the world. Now it’s done. I love it enough to accept it and stand behind it. It’s part of me today, not more than what I am. Anyway, I love thinking about wormholes and trying to see them in my mind. And sometimes I imagine how things would be if two of them gently collided, trying to occupy the same “place” at one time. I like to think they’d say “Oh, excuse me!” and then become good neighbors. /

  • This unfortunate car sits in the middle of a roundabout on Hickson Rd, Sydney. / I was driving past early one morning for work and saw this. I had to get a shot. / As for the graffiti on the side, Im not too sure what it is for, either someone wants Haydo freed or Haydo is for free. 3 Exp HDR (+2, 2 -2) / Canon 350D / 18-55mm EF-S / ISO 100 / Tripod Mounted / Photomatix Pro, PS CS4, Lightroom 2
