40cm x 45cm acrylics and collage on canvas. As yet another art course project for tafe, our imaginative lecturer wanted us to take 2 masterpieces by high profile artists and imagine, metaphorically if they’re were to be married and to have a child, paint what that child would look like! We could either make them not work together purposely to make a statement or blend them into a new image. This is man ray’s woman with cello ‘f’ holes and one of Kurt Shwitters’ collages (mostly painted but also collaged). At first i didn’t like this too much but after I got stuck into it I fell in love and this has been my favorite painting of mine ever since.
Mix medium photograph of a nest with 3 eggs and the Chinese characters LOVE, TRUST DREAM FORTUNE.
Collaged painting with Apophysis overlays
Mixed Medium on canvas… approx A3 in size. Hi everyone, I did this, this afternoon, it took me an hour, exploring with mixed medium. Inspired by Billylee and her print making… so incorporated some printing, water colour, collage and inks… Probably something I should varnish… but if it’s framed behind glass not sure if I’ll risk it. Have no idea what it should be titled so maybe you can help me … I have been part of RB since mid October and never had a work on the featured pages… could this be it? Looking forward to your comments and feedback, I know it’s not my usual style, but / hopefully someone out there likes it!
Words are passing by, like trees on a road / You’re talking bubbles in the air / Floating around you, away and displode / Eyes opened wide, I stare / - Ellen Allien
Mixed Media collage. Acrylic paint, vintage newspaper, vintage book paper. This is a scan of an actual painting, not digital art.
Collage with Apophysis overlays
Inspired by the textures of luxury and oppulance this painting has been created using mediums ranging from acrylic, glue, inks, gold leaf, shellac, pastel and layers of various papers. Please view the large version of this painting if you have the time, I believe it shows the details and textures much better. I will be very interested in your comments as this painting presented many hurdles during the process, some mediums just don’t like working together! Pastel is not traditionally varnished, but I have defied tradition! For developement of the painting you can view my journal entry where I have uploaded a few pictures of this work in progress. Now that it is complete I will upload a few more of the stages of developement for those interested, yes BillyLee – I am thinking of you : ) Thanks for viewing and leaving your comments. Carmen : )

Collage and Apophysis layers
In this abstract, I have attempted to capture the essence of an Arabic street market scene. / I worked quickly and used instinct and subconscious, rather than technical composition skill. I have used glued painted paper shapes, then painted an impressionist watercolour scene around the collage. 16th Sept 2008 update. / I’m currently working on a larger, watercolour-only, version of this 14”x10”. / less abstract and more real, but with impressionistic aspects.
portrait painting / life drawing class / exploring media: collage, bleach, quink, coffee, varnish, graphite, acrylic paint, masking tape, / all on paper.
I recently exhibited this collage at a local gallery as part of a small group exhibition. / It was almost a last minute decision but I was keen to show something a little different from my usual oil paintings and with a degree of spontaneity or stream of consciousness about it. / I decided to collage a lot of old book stub receipts from a local university library where I have been going for years (not the uni, just the library) for inspirational books by artists and writers. / There’s a montage of those stubs here along with collaged parts of my paintings (canvas) and prints, quotes, mistakes, ink, charcoal, pastel, spilled wine, newspaper, part of a letter from artist George Gittoes, a photo of my dad when he was singing in circuses, poetry, Kandinsky’s theory on art and my own theory (an American dollar note). / I must say I was inspired by redbubbles very own Herkissable and the recent postings from her journal to actually publish this (it’s been a while :) / Anyway, enough of my rambling.. here it is.. my mixed media collage and a few close ups for good measure.. / Thanks for dropping by! / -Leith / www.leithomalley.com / /

Work exhibited in the Visual Arts Association Group Exhibition ‘Four Seasons’, held Cairns Regional Gallery, Qld. / The exhibition theme was inspired by the Vivaldi’s music ‘The Four Seasons’. Mixed media – archival black ink, acrylic, collage – paper painted, mono & screen-printed, drawing, photo; screen-printed cotton fabric, carpet material; on canvas. Background: I had been working individually on art compositions relative to my passion to interpret music, rhythm, movement and energy through the use of formal visual art elements ie. line, colour, tone, shape, texture and art media. The interpretation of any music requires one’s senses to hear and feel, absorb sound and energies, to internalize and contemplate, as apposed to recording information seen/perceived through the eyes from the physical ‘outer’ world. One has to create and interpret a visionary abstract, from a pure transitional and spiritual sensual state, from one’s own internal environment, the knowledge, understanding and experience one brings to canvas for the moments of manifestation. I jumped at the chance when this exhibition theme came up. Also I am much inspired by Kandinsky and his work, a long time favourite art philosopher and mentor. ....................................... /

This for you Terez , my lovely daughter , she died when she was nearly 15 …... Thank you my friends your comments and support mean a lot to me. I had this pain bottled up in me so so long… but I knew and hoped with time passing things will change and turn out good… I was right, things started to unfold last week and I could just see and feel it. Working with this wonderful model just inspired me and brought all those feelings up from my heart, bones and my most inner part. I loved every minutes of it and it gave me a wonderful peace of mind. / The original is 120cmX100cmx2cm , oil on canvas , SOLD !. / You can see this picture in a nice interior here / Hope you like it…? / Thank you dear ANAISNAIS/Anna-Marie for this beautiful writing here. / TURNING OVER / Clock strikes, / every second my heart stabs / another injection of grief, / as streams wash the contours / rushing the valleys of guise. Memories. / All I behold now you have gone, / besides photographs and diaries. / I stare at you and you are there, / besides me once more. Turning over, / another page lets me slowly learn / to accept this new place in time / where I find myself surrounded / by loneliness and sorrow. This is not, / of course how you would want me to be. / Were you with me now you would hold me, / stroke my face and comfort me. / Loving me, happily. Together, / we have shared these memories, / so many times, turning over, / those beautiful pages of times / roaming through contours of life. I recollect, / how we walked valleys and streams, / where we played, picniced and slept. / Turning over the page you stay with me, / through the treasures we have shared. Now at night / when I’m lonely, in those early cold hours, / turning over I’ll remember and cherish / those beautiful gifts given so freely; / and thank God for the time that you lived. / / /
