Mixed Medium on canvas… approx A3 in size. Hi everyone, I did this, this afternoon, it took me an hour, exploring with mixed medium. Inspired by Billylee and her print making… so incorporated some printing, water colour, collage and inks… Probably something I should varnish… but if it’s framed behind glass not sure if I’ll risk it. Have no idea what it should be titled so maybe you can help me … I have been part of RB since mid October and never had a work on the featured pages… could this be it? Looking forward to your comments and feedback, I know it’s not my usual style, but / hopefully someone out there likes it!
Inspired by the textures of luxury and oppulance this painting has been created using mediums ranging from acrylic, glue, inks, gold leaf, shellac, pastel and layers of various papers. Please view the large version of this painting if you have the time, I believe it shows the details and textures much better. I will be very interested in your comments as this painting presented many hurdles during the process, some mediums just don’t like working together! Pastel is not traditionally varnished, but I have defied tradition! For developement of the painting you can view my journal entry where I have uploaded a few pictures of this work in progress. Now that it is complete I will upload a few more of the stages of developement for those interested, yes BillyLee – I am thinking of you : ) Thanks for viewing and leaving your comments. Carmen : )

457X610mm / Acrylic on canvas Inspired by traditional Japanese art I decided to explore the elusive yet beautiful world of being a Geisha. / “Geisha” ( pronounced ‘Gay-sha’ ) means artist in Japanese. The ‘real’ Geisha was not a common prostitute, the first Geishas were men who entertained patrons through artistry. The Geisha evolved into being the role of a woman in Japan, holding the equivalent status to celebrities today for their time. / The different forms of art they performed were tea ceremonies, dancing, calligraphy, painting, music, not to mention they were and still are walking pieces of art. Hence, these amazing iconic figures have inspired paintings with a contemporary edge. / Nicole Whitty / WhittyARt BUY Whitty ARt products at: zazzle.com/whittyart*

Gel medium transfer on paper and acrylic: pigment ink print and and collage.
An abstract mixed media collage of two figures, one wearing a hat and another individual just an outline.
This is a collage on the cover of an art journal by Jay Myers aka. Josmoking. It’s a compelling image of Kong’s epic battle over man’s misunderstanding of mostly everything.
My rendition of a pop Icon Elizabeth Taylor. This was a very large mixed medium piece (acrylic paint, spray paint, collage) on thick flexible advertising plastic material.

18×22” mixed medium on black Arches paper / My Grandmother came to the US when she was 15 years old. She told me about the work of Aboriginal Australian artists almost 50 years ago. When I was in college I did a research paper with my own interpretation of a “dreamtime” painting and this was it. When some of my second cousins came visiting from Australia they saw it and told me I could never paint this kind of work in Australia because of the laws protecting the rights of “Aboriginal like” work. I never validated this information. I would like to hear your comments.
