Many thanks to Geoff Coleman for graciously lending me his lightening bolt to create this image. He hasn’t seen it yet so I hope he likes it! The highway image was taken on our trek across the Nullabor Plain when we moved from WA to Tasmania, on the part where there is not one single bend in the road for 100km’s… or is it 100miles? Oops… I forget, nevermind, I am sure someone will let me know =) It’s a bloody long stretch of straight road anyways ;) Stormchaser I no longer hide under the bed =)

It doesnt look good over everything but with some pix it looks ok. I used this plugin over a collaboration i did with the incredibly talented Geoff Colemam… http://www.redbubble.com/people/geoffcoleman
Downtown Detroit was once the entertainment center for a busy metropolis. Grand Circus Park was a hub for the once-thriving thriving entertainment industry and had a magnificent theater that shared the Grand Circus name. Now, Grand Circus Park is just another seldom used stop along the People Mover circuit and the Grand Circus Theater’s dangling marquee serves as an illustration of the narcolepsy that envelopes this once vital downtown. There is an ongoing effort to preserve some of the theaters. The Fox Theater is the only Detroit venue that has been renovated so far and is not viewable from DPM. The unique Art Deco terra cotta facade of National Burlesque has graced Detroit since 1911 and has the next best chance of survival.
Send me some token, that my hope may live, / Or that my easeless thoughts may sleep and rest; / Send me some honey to make sweet my hive, / That in my passions I may hope the best. / I beg no riband wrought with thine own hands, / To knit our loves in the fantastic strain / Of new-touched youth; nor ring to show the stands / Of our affection, that as that’s round and plain, / So should our loves meet in simplicity; / No, nor the corals which thy wrist enfold, / Laced up together in congruity, / To show our thoughts should rest in the same hold; / No, nor thy picture, though most gracious, / And most desired, because best like the best; / Nor witty lines, which are most copious, / Within the writings which thou hast addressed. / Send me nor this, nor that, to increase my store, / But swear thou think’st ‘I love thee,’ and no more. Words by John Donne / For Morris Coleman

The ocean provokes feelings of awe, timelessness, reflection, silence and the truly divine. Looking at the sea and the large multi-colored boulders can also be perceived as nature’s abstract. Great poets like Rumi, the most-read and greatest spiritual poet of our time comes to mind. Coleman Barks’ intrepretations are the ears for the divine madness in Rumis poetry. Barks, a renowned poet himself is the bestselling author and free-form interpreter of Rumi’s volumes of poetry. His remarkable interpretations of Rumis inspired renderings are food for the soul for tired modern people who can find renewal and inspiration through his words. No one does Rumi better than Coleman Barks. Rumi’s poetry mirrors back to us an ocean of woven speech too intricate and dynamic for any grammarian to untangle. His mystical voices come from many points on the inner-outer spectrum. I am pairing this oceanscape with one of Rumi’s beautiful metaphorical poems, The Thirsty Fish. ”I dont get tired of you. Dont grow weary of being compassionate toward me? All this thirst equipment must surely be tired of me, the water jar, the water carrier, I have a thirsty fish in me That can never find enough of what its thirsts for! Show me the way to the ocean! Break these half-measures, These small containers All this fantasy And grief Let my house be drowned in the wave That rose last night out of the courtyard Hidden in the center of my chest. Joseph fell like the moon into my well. The harvest I expected was washed away But no matter, A fire has risen above my tombstone hat. I dont want learning, or dignity, Or respectability. I want this music and this dawn And the warmth of your check against mine, T he grief-armies assemble, but Im not going with them. This is how it always is When I finish a poem. A great silence overcomes me And I wonder why I ever thought to use language. The Essential Rumi Coleman Barks

A pleasant puddle. Nikon D80 / 60mm ED / EXIF This photograph was nominated for The Pay it Forward Group by Sophie Shapiro – This came as a complete surprise to me and I feel very honoured by this nomination. I would like to thank Sophie for this unexpected accolade. John is so obviously passionate about The Streets of London and his work is an inspiration to me. I hope that he will produce his own book illustrating all the wonderful places he visits and the wonderful people he meets. Thank you John for sharing all these moments with us all on Red Bubble. A once elegant home, now abandoned in the mining town of Coleman in the Crowsnest Pass. This is one of my favourite places in Alberta- a very historic, very eerie cluster of mining towns in the Rockies- whenever we go down that way I crank up the Tom Waits and enjoy some atmosphere. I photographed this about a year ago…the windows in this house have been broken out and boarded up by now, I’m glad I caught it before the destruction. Incidentally, I imagine Coleman must be one very cool place to celebrate Halloween, I get creeped out by the old part of town even in broad daylight, never mind a misty dark night under a full moon with only the sounds of the river and doors creaking shut…
