Taken on Mt.Higginbotham at Mt.Hotham the cloud had just thinned enough toward the sun enough to allow a soft but distinct shadow to be cast by the snowgum onto the fresh snow. ~ / Browse Images by Category : Snow Landscape Nature

an old mining pit wheel in a village near where i live, these are dotted about all over this part of the country, left to celebrate the past glory days of the coal mining industry, the sun was just going down, there was frost on the ground and i was frozen !!!!!

This picture was taken at the same place and same time as «Liquid diamonds»but one month later when the lake was beginning to freeze.An early morning with the golden sun rising.For me that image is a good exemple of «Grace and fire» / The title is the iCandor idea,Thank you.

I know this totally doesn’t look real.. but beilieve me.. it was freezing!! This was a 10 sec exposure, ISO 100 at f20 with an ND filter and circular polarizer..

In July 2007 I did my first ever snow shoe walk from Falls Creek out past Pretty Valley to Tawonga Huts and the Niggerheads then over Mt Fainter and down to Bogong Village. The downhills arn’t as fun as my crossies but the uphill and flats are a dream much easier manoeuvrability for photography too. Great trip had some good weather (the following day was a whiteout). Love the way f22 on my fisheye lens creates this sunburst effect, doesn’t work very well with a dark foreground but with this highly reflective snow it’s a winner.
