Wet weather creek on the Tennessee side of the Great Smoky Mountain NP.The Smokies is a wonderful place to be when is snowing. Often they will be snow there and no where else in the state…. Caution should be used when crossing over the top or traveling on Little River Road which is narrow with the river at its edge most the way.
These are chinstrip penguins on Half Moon Island, Antarctica. It was bleak in this blizzard, but beautiful – and an extraordinary honour to be so close to these little soldiers! They are unperturbed by the conditions, thriving in their rocky nests, while we onlookers were starting to huddle ourselves! My camera batteries were not enjoying the bitter temperature, so I was lucky to get a few shots. The video camera packed it in really quickly!
A cold blue sunset at Eagle Rock, the mouth of the River Almond at Cramond near Edinburgh. Taken on a Bronica SQa a couple of years ago and recently reprocessed.

A great little spot near Keppel Falls near Marysville, Victoria, Australia. HDR in Photomatix :) then played around with in Adobe Lightroom. This is a redo of an earlier go at the same image below: I felt it was a bit too saturated and preferred the newer rendition, let me know what you think! On Saturday the 7th of February my family lost our home away from home at Marysville, as well as our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks and our Abyssinian cat. My condolences go to anyone who also lost family, friends or property on this terrible weekend, and I know deep down that Marysville will be back and better than ever, in the near future… Click here for my other images of the Yarra Ranges Featured in the Yarra Valley & Ranges Group in February 2009 This version as a medium mounted print and with a black border:

Fox Glacier is on the west coast of New Zealand’s south island. It is one of the few places in the world where glaciers carve their way down through rainforest. The glacier itself is an everchanging scene of ice. This view – looking back up the glacier shows some of these contours. Where the glacier is moving faster the ice is thrown up into higher deformations.

After lots of rain and in the early spring there are many beautifull waterfalls in Slovenia. This picture was taken in gorge of Pekel (english Hell). It’s quite a challenge to climb to the top of it, but I think it’s worth it. There are several waterfalls, this one is one of the greatest. / Shot was taken on a tripod with Sony Alpha 100 and I used SAL16-105mm. / A: f 29 / S: 1/5 s / ISO 100 / Focal Length 24 mm
At the head of the Cholatse Khola valley is this rock-face peering into the fog. Again, faces in the rock, ice and snow formations continue to suggest a great presence. The mountains are alive.
Ama Dablam rises to 6814m through the afternoon cloud the rolls up the Khumbu Valley. Or perhaps it’s just a cloud with distinct edges, and solid. Featured in “Mountains and Mountain Light”.
Everest Base Camp lies here at the top end of the Khumbu Glacial Valley (5364m). High at the left of this panorama, Mount Everest can be glimpsed in the cloud, below it the famous Everest Ice Fall and the bottom of the Western Cwm. The ice coming down from the top of the world then turns at right-angles and becomes the Khumbu Glacier This panorama is a composite image made from 3 photos take with Canon 400D.
