It also stop salt sprey clinging itself on the camera too.) / - Stand in front of an on coming wall of sea water (Being scare sh#tless): PRICELESS!

A morbid history of St. John’s… the hill in the background is known as Gibbets Hil, it is where all the criminals were hung in public executions. This shot was taken on an overcast and rainy day at Flynn’s Beach in Port Macquarie.. I had to take a shot as the colour of the water was a very nice blue-green.. I was also happy with the way I captured the wave crashing on the rocks offshore.

This yellow dory was tied to the wharf for the winter. The boat launch had quite a steep angle to it… you can see the ocean far below, so the dory was secured with these blue ropes.I loved the contrast between the yellow boat and the blue ropes holding it securely. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / laminated print / /

The Icelandic Harvester. / / When I came across this old vessel moored to the pier my imagination started running wild with scenarios of what life aboard this wooden vessel would have been like. I could almost feel the sineous texture of the ropes as they hung there coated in the ice cold saltwater of the frigid North Atlantic Ocean. I could nearly hear the calls of the sailors as they shouted commands back and forth across her weather beaten decks as the waves crashed down upon her on any one of her numerous voyages. What sights must have been seen as sailors of old lined the rails to peer down at the mysteries of the sea. Canon 400D / Iceberg season is offically upon us for another year. This was the first Iceberg of the season for me. It was a very foggy and drizzly day, but these bergs were well worth venturing out in the weather. / / From the Northern tip of Labrador down to the eastern coast of Newfoundland, the sea that pounds and caresses these shores is nicknamed Iceberg Alley. Bergs born 10,000 years ago on the Greenland icecap dance along the coast and far out to sea, propelled unpredictably by wind and tide, tumbling, twirling, and breaking into fantastic shapes before melting in the warm waters of the gulf stream. / / An iceberg’s journey down Iceberg Alley begins once it breaks off from the edges of Greenland’s glaciers. Dropping into the ocean, it is gripped by the Labrador Current and carried through the dark ocean along the coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador. In the past, during certain times of the year, the alley has been thick with the largest and most beautiful icebergs found anywhere in the world. This berg was as big as a house! We were bobbing around in a little lifeboat so we could be close to these and get some photos. Our main ship, the Skorpios III, although happy to plough through ice flows would not venture closer than 1 kilometre to the glacier face. The glacier in the background is the Pope Pio XI, the largest glacier (I think) in South America. Southern Patagonia, Chile.

By far the most famous fictional ghost ship is The Flying Dutchman. The ship has become synonymous with the phenomenon so that “Flying Dutchman” is often used as a generic term for any apparition-type ghost ship. The term may also refer to a real ship that was reported to be seen – often as an apparition – after sinking, or to a ship found floating with no crewmembers on board. According to folklore, the Flying Dutchman is a ghost ship that can never go home, but must sail “the seven seas” forever. The Flying Dutchman is usually spotted from afar, sometimes glowing with ghostly light. It was a dreary and grey day today. The fog was so thick so I decided to go for a drive to one of the lighthouses. This is an old outhouse hanging over the edge of the cliff next to the lighthouse. This is what the lighthouse keeper would use to scratch that itch… lol. Photo taken from the bridge (deck 6) of our trusty little ship Polar Pioneer while crossing Drakes Passage. It was taken one handed as I held on for grim death with the other, lol. The ship was built as an ice breaker, as a result it has a much more rounded hull and NO stabilisers. During the first 24 hours of the crossing we had constant 8 meter seas coming at a 45 degree angle on the port beam. During the second 24 hours nothing much had changed except the seas had increased to 10+ meters. Here is a re-worked image of my little girl and my husband which was on RB a while ago.. I keep coming back to it so finally decided to play with it and here it is… I originally had this image in colour but got some great advice from a fellow bubbler to try it in b&w so I did…... This image was taken when my little girl fell over on the rocks and hurt her knees and her daddy gave her a piggy back to the car before the storm came.
