Perhaps the only urbex photograph ever to be named in honour of Ronnie Barker’s classic and incomparably hilarious ‘Cheers’ sketch… The Officer’s Bar at RAF Binbrook, has certainly seen better days but is still a striking piece of 60’s/70’s bar decor. In the foreground you might just spot a board, on the floor, festooned with the insignia stickers of visiting squadrons.
I was out taking photos of all my kids (dog kids that is) and I set my coke down and my oldest Chihuahua Gagey sat down beside it. I couldn’t resist the shot.

I’d like to build the world a home / and furnish it with love. / Grow apple trees and honey bees / and snow white turtle doves. I’d like to teach the world to sing / in perfect harmony. / I’d like to hold it in my arms / and keep it company. I’d like to see the world for once / all standing hand in hand. / And hear them echo through the hills / for peace throughout the land. That’s the song that I hear. / Let the world sing today. / A song of peace that echos on / And never goes away. I’d like to see the world for once / all standing hand in hand; / And hear them echo through the hills / for peace throughout the land.

The old wringer washer evokes many memories of washday when I was a kid. This photo was taken in North Georgia along a country road. It’s the entrance to a place called “The Mark Of The Potter.” The view offered a great winodw into another era in time.
