  • The stock market
    by Peter Zentjens

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Isn’t another bad day (yet again) on the stock markets the perfect time to show you my latest still life in the “nostalgia” series, entitled: the stock market. / As usual, old and new elements are mingled together. The painted with light technique was used again, as well as digital manipulation to get the end result I was after. / It’s strange, I spent months planning this shot, preparing and getting the props and then in a few hours time it’s shot. It’s almost an anti-climax. / Well, I hope you enjoy it! / By the way, this is the fourth installment in this series, I’m withholding the second one which I consider my masterpiece in this series. I’ll probably upload it in a few days. / °°° / A wallpaper based on this photo can be found here more nostalgia: /

  • This woman is a victim of a seemingly never ending war in southern congo. She has suffered sexual violence (rape) so severe it has rendered her incontinent. She now exists purely as a result of a courageous charity called Heal Africa, and indeed her own inner strength and faith. I asked her if I could take her portrait and she stood up (which must have been painful), straightened her back and stared straight down the lens. No stopping to straighten her scarf, no preening, no fear. Just an honesty so raw, so uninhibited and so rare, I caught my breath and thought I’d never breath again. I was totally overpowered by her intensity. After I took the shot and showed it to her she smiled and thanked me. It still gives me a shiver to look at it now. HEAL Africa calendar available now!!! • This is an image representing the cover up of emotion. So many people put on the face of beauty and happiness but inside are rotting and hating. They hide this hate and destruction with a painted face of joy. This is not to be seen as ‘demonic’ in any way. The original picture was taken by liquid-venus Comments and critiques are welcome. by Siamkatze

    US$4.32–US$98.80

Feng Shui teaches that 3 coins bound with the auspicious red ribbon is a powerful symbol that brings prosperity and abundance. For centuries the three good luck coins inside a red envelope have been given to family and friends to wish loved ones true prosperity. The act of giving the good luck coins spreads happiness and good luck to those who receive them. Tips for using these Chinese good luck symbols of wealth and prosperity -Many people keep the good luck coins in their wallets and purses encouraging wealth and prosperity. -Others hang the lucky coins from the inside of the door symbolising that prosperity has entered the house. -Business people often keep good luck coins in the cash register or tape them to the front of important files they are working on. /

    US$6.65–US$152.00

time and tide, guess they go together this really needs to be viewed much bigger…the bubbles and the gold sparkle incredibly I found the coin in Ventimiglia in 1986… it was in a little frame that made it into a key ring. The locket was a gift for my grandmother on her 50th wedding anniversary. The bubbles came from Gunnamatta beach. The limbs are mine. • The Key to Peace
    by Mui-Ling Teh

    US$4.32–US$98.80

5 yen coins are typically given as donations at a Japanese Shinto Shrine because of the their hole, which is said to allow the wish to go through. There are several other cultural significance regarding the 5 yen coin. For example, 5 yen in Japanese is “Go-en,” which is the same as karma in Japanese (although written differently). Here the wish portrayed is the key to peace. The key I have here is one I made out of a wood block when I was 17. I made it to remind myself to work towards my goals and aspirations; it is my “Key To The Future”. Here it is the key to peace and the shrine is the door to that peace. The key is on a loop looping through the hole of the coin. Flying through the coin I also have my little folded peace crane I made not too long ago (Apr. 6, 08) out of a 6×6mm piece of paper (also portrayed in Born from Fingers and Born from the Pinky) “I shall write peace on your wings, and you shall fly all over the world” / (Sadako Sasaki – Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes) I could’ve done a computer generated key too, then it would’ve look more tidy than this one, however this image has more personal meaning for myself by using objects I made with my own hands. I like doing things by hand more, although it takes longer. I’ve played around with the settings of each layer in photoshop, and I’m having a hard time decided what looks best.
