  • Shot on the Cape Cod Canal in Massachusetts Every once in awhile I get really lucky around here. On this day, I was only trying to go for a naturally framed sunset photo, but with the passing of this ship, this photo became something more! I hope you enjoy! =============================================== / M/V Risanger passing through the canal on its way to Boston

  • The world famous cod hole, Ribbon Reefs Northern GBR Australia. This place provides a totally fantastic experience hanging out with enormous fish. • Description…well its kinds obvious, its a Cod in a Cave ;-) Ok, its a Black Cod (Epinephelus daemelii) sorrounded by Eastern Pomfrets (Schuettea scalaripinnis) at Fish Rock Cave (http://www.southwestrocksdive.com.au/) off the Northern NSW Coast, Australia (http://tinyurl.com/a99zm4) Black Cod are classed as a “Vulnerable” species, they are not yet and hopefully will never be endangered. Follow the 2 links above and from one you will see a drawing of Fish Rock Cave. This dive site is one of the must-do dives not just of Australia but of the world! The classic Fish Rock photograph is similar to this one but with Grey Nurse Sharks so it was great to get this shot, particularly as the Black Cod are relatively shy and tend to run and hide when divers approach.

  • “Floating on Clouds” was shot in Goulds Newfoundland Canada. This is The Dory in natural light. I was talking to a friend about shooting “The Dory” and “Floating on Clouds” and how I used a polarizer to bring out the clouds on the water (as seen here) and removed it and used a flash to shoot “The Dory”. I was wondering in hindsight what I would have come up with if I had used the polarizer and flash at the same time. I know I would have given up about up to two stops with the filter which would have meant a slower shutter speed and the boat was moving, ever so slightly, so it may not have worked out? But maybe next time, live and learn! Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1 / Av( Aperture Value ) 22.0 / ISO Speed 100 / Lens EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS / Focal Length 18.0mm / B + W Polarizer For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr

  • A lone snowy egret flies low over dew covered dunes on the edge of a large salt marsh, looking for a place to settle in for the morning and hunt. This particular salt marsh is one of my favorite places to shoot at dawn on Cape Cod. The creek that runs through it empties out into the Nantucket sound, and contains a large amount of fish, crustaceans and mollusks, making it a great feeding spot for many shorebirds.
